Dog People Come In

What do you give you dog for diarrhea? I've read ground turkey, puréed pumpkin or plain white rice. Also, how long do you let it go on before you take them to the vet? She's acting normal, but she's shitting everywhere. HALP.

I'd just take her in, she may have something parasitic in her intestines. Plus thats just gross especially with a (crawler?) small LO.

Gee, thanks a bunch. My kid is not crawling in shit, TYVM. The dog is quarantined in the kitchen. I don't have a couple hundred dollars to "just take her in" to the vet.

Good thing I'm not a vet! I've had a sick dog with a crawler, and it wasn't pleasant.

How long has pup been doing this?

I'd do 24 hours sans food and then do two days of chicken and rice. If it doesn't help, see the vet.

Make sure pup doesn't get dehydrated.

@rondackhiker since yesterday. We did only plain white rice and water last night, and while it's decreased in quantity, her stool is still very loose and diarrhea like today.

Our vet said to do boiled chicken and white rice. All it did was make her constipated. Pumpkin is good too, but we only use it to keep them from eating their poop.

Poor puppy. Our dog Belle gets the runs sometimes. Usually in the middle of the damn night. Never persists long enough to warrant a vet visit. If the weather is nice and doggie can't get out I'd have her outside so as to not have to clean that up. Toddler poop eh annoying doggie poop oh hell no. Good luck hope she's feeling better soon.
