I'm still waiting to try out solids. I'm excited to see him try them, but not excited for all the extra crap I'm gonna have to drag around soon. He will be 6 months on the 13th, and can sit on his own for a little bit, but I wouldn't trust him around hard floors yet with his sitting skills.
It was tough but I waited until 6 months...which happened this past Sunday. She seemed ready before but I wanted to wait based on current recommendations.
We are waiting until 6 months (which will be on the 13th).... She is showing all the signs of interest and can sit up for a very short amount of time. But she is allergic to something I am eating & we have to figure that out before introducing something new so it might be a while ) but it will be slow and steady when it does happen
The girls can't sit on their own yet, but I've introduced solids (oatmeal and some purees). One does better than the other. But we've just been doing it here nd there, nothing too regular. They will be 6 months on Saturday. Daycare is going to start feeding them some veggies and oatmeal now too, so we should get better with extra practice now. They are definitely interested in food and follow it when they see us eating.
TTC since May 2006. After 3 failed Clomid cycles, 2 failed Injectibles/IUIs, 2 failed IVFs and 1 failed FET, we moved on to adoption!
Last ditch FET resulted in BFP, and identical twin girls!
We introduced oatmeal cereal around 5.5 months since she was showing all of the readiness signs. Since then we've been doing a few purees like green beans, carrots, sweet potatoes, and bananas since I had one around the house that I mashed up. I haven't fed them to her every day but we've at least tried them a little. Her 6 month check up is tomorrow so I'll still get information from her pedi about how to further proceed.
Phee is sitting up, crawling and pulling up (you can tell she has older siblings) but she isn't 6 months until the 9th. We tried avocado a week ago and she made the most terrifying gagging sounds. I know that's normal, but it freaked me out. H is going to be point person on foods. I nurse, he'll feed everything else. It gives him his own area of emphasis and I get to sit back and relax.
If somebody thinks they're a hedgehog, presumably you just give 'em a mirror and a few pictures of hedgehogs and tell them to sort it out for themselves.-Douglas Adams
Ditto on 6 mo. there was an article a few months ago in the NY Times on how people start solids too early and my pediatrician reinforced this again at our 4 mo. appointment. She said to wait til 6 mo. or as close as possible. And just practically, I can't understand why anyone ever wants to start sooner than that- it's just more work!!
Haven't started yet. DS is 6 months on Tues and has his appt so we'll discuss with his pedi at that time. He doesn't yet sit up on his own so he's probably not ready.
I wanted to wait till 6 months but my LO literally grabs food out of my mouth and can sit unsupported for a few minutes. And he sits perfectly fine when there is a boppy pillow around him. So, I decided to go ahead and start with avocado next weekend.
