They discuss at next appointment, but say they'd contact me if there were anything concerning. Rumor has it my test results are available on their patient website, but I've never looked.

My MW said she'd call if something were wrong. Otherwise, we talk at the next appointment. For example, I'm doing my quad on Saturday and we'll talk about them at my next appt on the 5th.
When I had an abnoraml thyroid result they called me. Otherwise, she just tells me things look good at the next appointment. That being said I would think different dr's have different procedures.
for my pap and quad marker, i just got a little notecard in the mail that said "normal" and checked for which test. my first big bloodwork was never called or anything. they didn't mention anything really except that i would need the rhogam shot at my most recent appt. when i had a 24 hour urine and some other bloodwork, they called me with the results as soon as they had them.
My drs office uses the philosophy that no news is good news. They only call if something is abnormal, otherwise, we discuss the results at my following appt.
Mine says they will call if there's something important to tell you, otherwise they will give you the results at your next appt. But it's frusterating waiting sometimes!
My OB's policy is, unless they find something that concerns them, they will wait until your next appt.
Personally during my 1st Tri I had a test where I wanted to know, and couldn't wait 3 weeks...so I called. Of course everything was fine, but my advice is, if you can't sleep at night until you know the results, call them.
My doc office has an online system where you can view test results, email doctors or nurses, check appts etc. So I get an email when the results have been logged then I sign in online to check them.
Re: I just DD'd a response to a post. I'd like to have an answer..
yeah, thanks!!
My doctor has a medline that you call and they record a message. I bet every office has a different policy.
And the 1st tri answer is.... JUST CALL THEM AND ASK.
muah!
Great. Thanks ya'll.
Like I said, I tried calling to ask them, but...FAIL.
Their answering service lady was like "they are at lunch. sorry"..
Well she didn't sound sorry...
