Awake Time

Good morning ladies.

I'm just curious on what your LO's general awake time is during the day.

DD is 8 weeks and is usually up for not too much more than an hour at a time except during the evening witching hours.

BTDT moms, when did you start to see a significant increase in LO's awake time?  It sucks because after feeding she is only up for 45 minutes and she is starting to get fun!  According to Troublesometots.com, she is right on target with her sleep/awake times but I sometimes I sit there waiting for her to wake up so we can play lol

Re: Awake Time

  • LO will be 8 weeks on Sunday and this past week I've noticed a big difference in awake time. She is up for about 3 hours at a time and will take 1-2 good naps (2 hrs) during the day...the rest are really short naps.

  • Usually up for 1-1.5 hours between feedings. Like op...usually before bed she is up longer 2-3 hours). I find she starts getting grouchy if she's up for more than 2 hours at a time....I do put her in her crib for one longer nap (2 hours) around noon..other than that she just takes cat naps on me or in her rnp. If we are out running errands, I don't worry about her long nap...she sleeps when she sleeps!

  • I feel like my LO sleeps a lot, and most of her naps are pretty long. She is usually up from 8-9:30, naps then Is up from 12-2 or 3, naps then is up from 7-8, naps then up from 10-11 then she is down for the night (we have 1-2 night feedings but she goes right back to sleep). She'll be 6 weeks on Saturday.
  • I'm glad this question was asked because I was feeling like my 6wk old sleeps too much during the day. But maybe not. When we do our morning feeding session she's usually awake for about and hour then wants to comfort nurse to go back to sleep. Then she will take a semi long nap and that process kind of repeats itself. She's awake for a few hours in the evening before we start bedtime routine. As soon as she starts to get fussy in the evening we will start the bedtime routine. I guess her sleep pattern is pretty normal for her age. I'm like pp though... I want her to stay awake more so we can play.. She's getting fun. And I don't have much time before I go back to work.
