What do you guys think...

Adrian is our number 1 pick. But Theodor (nn Theo) and Andreas keep coming up. Thoughts?

I like all three, but Theodore (I'm assuming the forgotten e was a typo?) is my favorite!

Edit: Googled it. I had no idea that Theodor was a legit spelling!
I used to be a big deal.  Now I'm just old.

Haha thanks! Yaaa it can be spelled both ways. But good to know if it looks off that way!
  • All good names. But my vote is for the greek ones: Theodore and Andreas

  • I don't know Theodor reminds me of Alvin and the Chipmunks, I would chose Adrian.......
  • Adrian is nice. Theodore is a favorite of mine. Was our first choice of we were having a boy. Good luck selecting a name!

  • Theodor and Andreas are my favorites. Andreas sounds so lovely when you say it out loud, but I love Teddy as a nickname

  • Theo is my fav
  • I like the second two choices better.

Married my love 8-25-12 TTC #1 September 2012. BFP 2-2-13. DS born 10-16-13.
TTC #2 in December 2014. BFP 12-31-14. Expecting a September baby!
  • Thanks for the feedback! We haven't asked/told any of our friends and family yet - this is super helpful. I was afraid Andreas was too strange or something good to know people generally like it :) this is going to be a tough decision.

Cool thanks! I am Greek so it would be kinda cool to go with a Greek one.
  • I like Adrian the best :)

  • I love both Adrian and Theodore (preferred spelling). Unfortunately, my DH has vetoed both for stupid reasons.

  • Adrian or Theo. I'm not a fan of Andreas personally. I either get reminded of the fault line under California or multiple girls named Andrea.

These were actually our concerns too..and we live in CA re the fault line. I never would have put that together but a baby name book pointed it out.
  • I love Theo, so cute
  • Love Theo and Adrian! Very cute names!

  • @Lilpoppy: You are Greek too? Awesome, and you should totes pick a greek name then!
My baby name pics are deft greek. FI is german/british, but seeing as most of my family is back in the motherland, I insist that they be able to call my baby by its name. Also, fam names are important to me.

  • Adrian is a family name on my mom's side, so I have to go with that

  • @calibr8te: awesome did not realize you are Greek! Yiasas :) my heritage is also impt to me and all of my relatives on my dad's side live there so we plan on making lots of trips so baby can experience the culture. It would be a big plus for me if his name reflected that as well. The nice thing is that Adrian is actually taken from a family name sort of (grandmothers name was Andriana, so my parents gave my sister the middle name Adrian for some reason) so either way at least there will be some family ties :)
  • @Lilpoppy: First generation Greek Canadian. My dads side of the fam goes back 200 yrs in the same village. Very very Greek! lol I even started making my own phyllo a couple years ago which was a huge deal to all the women in the family. It's a rite of passage into greek womanhood.

    DD #2 Violet- October 2013
    DD#3 Due New Year's Eve 2016

  • @calibr8te: your own phyllo dough?!! Now that is impressive. Ive made moussaka or galatobouriko but haven't ventured that far. Re the village...love it. I grew up hearing stories from my dad about how he didn't have shoes..and milked a goat for breakfast.

    Exactly this.

I love Adrian and Theodore-with-an-E.  I think someone named Theodor would have to deal with people adding the E at the end all his life, and explaining it over and over would be annoying for him.  I don't hate Andreas, but it's nms.

Ya I agree re adding the E to Theodore. DH for some reason is angling for without, but the E is def a more common spelling and it would prob get annoying. I can convince him tho ;)
