cold weather shoes

What are you all putting on baby feet this winter?  I was just wondering if robeez boots would be enough protection in the cold. We are moving to MT, so it is going to be a real cold not like here in Souther Indiana where it is not really cold at all. Thanks for your help!

Are the hard sole ones good/warm enough for playing outside in the snow, etc?

They are leather so probably not good playing in snow shoes. The sole is rubber and goes high on the sides so they are good for walking in parking lots/drive way/areas that would be more clear and not sinking into snow.

    Gotcha.

Will kids our kids age even like being outside in the snow? I have a hard time thinking they will, but what do I know?

  • @tonir319 if they move to the toddler room then, yes they will be outside.

We use an in-home daycare, so that's not really what I was worried about. They do go outside everyday, even if it's just a quick walk around the house to get fresh air.

I was thinking more like will they want to go outside and play in the snow (put on snow pants, boots, etc) or is that sort of a waste of money this year?

Our daycare doesn't go outside if it is less than 60 (or close to that, might be 50) or over 90. They have an indoor cafegymatorium that gets used for winter play.

We don't play outside much in the winter at home either. James can't really play all bundled up so he would rather be inside anyways.

  • DS wears high top sneakers or timberlands in the winter. For dd, she got like 3-4 pairs of boots from her Godmother- 2 of which are snow boots, so she is set.

  • We got DD Stonz 'boots' and bought the additional liner for winter. They look silly, but they work great and will last a while.

I want those boots for DD so badly!  Are they fully lined? They look so cozy! They are listed under girls on livie and luca as well as boys - think they would work for a girl too?

Fully lined, just not on the bottom. I think they work for either boy or girl. I also like the red.

I love southerners. Toughen up.  :P

Our center doesn't go out if its below 40...all kids have to have a winter coat, gloves, and hats. The littles obviously don't stay out for very long when its close to 40.

Right? I'm reading this like, seriously 60! It's currently that here right now. We can get as cold as 20-30 below with wind chill here! Welcome to Michigan! I bought B a snowsuit and heavy jacket for winter. I have yet to get him boots because I'm not sure on size. He's in a 6 right now! Yikes! Love those boots though @hmp1! Since it's no spend October I'll have to wait! ;(

  • Wow, our center went out as long as it was over 20. Our kids are tough!

  • I think it has more to do with the teacher having to spend the time to get each kid dressed and undressed. They only play outside for 20-30 minutes so doing potty, dressing in winter gear, play, undressing, potty...that would take well over an hour.

I asked at pick up yesterday, it is 50 degrees. Right now they go outside twice a day but once it is too cold in the morning, they will only do an afternoon recess. In the summer it is opposite, they only do morning recess and not afternoon. We get a lot of rain so that is the main reason they don't get to go outside. The cafegymatorium is just as big as their outdoor playground so the kids have tons of fun inside anyways.
