6 Weeks Pregnant

Insomnia?!

I'm 6 weeks pregnant. I get nauseated whenever I ignore my hunger, my breasts are sensitive but ok otherwise. I am noticing a little fatigue during the day and am currently at home so I'll crash. Now that being said, I find myself wide awake at 3-4 am. Previously I would take a sleep aid to help stay asleep but can't now.

Are there any remedies? Is this just during the first trimester or can I expect this throughout pregnancy.

Thanks!

Re: Insomnia?!

  • I hear you sister- I have been tossing and turning since 3am for the past week- I finally am embracing it, and just writing (I am a PhD candidate) for the hours in the dark, and then taking a nap mid-morning. I am super privileged with a flexible schedule, so I know you might not be so lucky.

I did find that having a big glass of milk (8 oz) and a banana immediately before bed is helping a bit....perhaps the starch and fat are keeping me out for a bit longer.

    Good luck!

  • I am taking several naps everyday! Fortunately (or unfortunately) I'm laid off right now so being able to nap is truly helpful. If I go back to work in the next 2 weeks I might be in trouble - LOL!! My eyes get heavy throughout the day so it's very easy for me to just take a quick nap.

Unfortunately I don't drink milk but will think about the banana before bed. Thanks!!
  • i have never in my life been a morning person but recently i just cant seem to sleep past 6! sometimes im up before that even, and im having trouble falling asleep at night, dam u heartburn!
but then during the day i just need take a nap.

  • I have been the same for the past week or so- up from 3-4am, then back wide awake at 530am. I have just been crashing earlier and drinking milk before going to bed since I think heartburn wakes me up some nights. Sometimes milk when I am up in the middle of the night helps me calm back down to fall asleep.
