Is this high blood pressure?

I am 26 weeks with twins and I have been feeling off since yesterday.  I've had a headache, my vision has been off at some points but then fine at others.  So I was at Costco and I checked my BP and it was 145/85.  I already left a message for my OB and I'm waiting on a call back.  I can't quite remember but I know the top number is much higher than usual and the bottom is also higher.  Just wanted to get opinions on if I should be really worried yet?  Thanks!!

Re: Is this high blood pressure?

  • When you took it at Costco did you sit and rest before you did it? I'm pretty sure my BP would be elevated after walking Costco. My doctor says that beofre I take my BP (I do it at home) to make sure I've sat and rested for a few minutes.

I'm supposed to call my doc if my BP is 140/90 or higher.

  • Like PP said, you're supposed to call at 140/90. Honestly, I'd go into the doctor, especially since you've been feeling "off". Trust me, it's okay to go in and get monitored for awhile, even if it just turns out to be a small bout of high bp. Around 26 weeks I also had what you're describing. Maybe invest in a home bp cuff, lie down, drink lots of water, and call your doctor if you're feeling off! Good luck!

  • Lay on your left side while you are waiting for your doctor to call back.  It'll help lower your bp and hopefully make you feel better.  Drink lots of water too.  If you are having headaches too they will probably want to do some testing to make sure you aren't developing Pre-E.  Good luck and go lay down!
