Trying to Get Pregnant

Cross your fingers!

Ok, I'm on CD6 and have 6 days to go til I O.  At least that's what FF is telling me!  This will be my 2nd month/2nd cycle.  And it would be perfect timing because October is mine and DH's anniversary month from when we were dating!  It would just be really sweet to be able to say "Well, we first got together in October, and we also made a bundle of love 5 years later in the same month!"  (Too corny? Yeayea I'm a softy, sorry!)

I haven't been taking temps (my schedule has been too off to start this time around) but I plan on using OPKs and I've already been tracking my CM.  I plan on DTD every other day and will probably use PreSeed on CD 9 or 10 (I tend to have very low amounts of CM, and the EWCM only happens once in a single day)

I'm also stuffing myself with plenty of Omega 3 and Saw Palmetto (Its an AWESOME supplement for fertility, men and women alike!) as well as Iron and B-Complex (I'm a real food junkie too, so I have a firm belief in healthy vitamins and foods to boost your overall health)

Any other tips to make this my lucky month??

Just make sure to HIO during your fertile window ;)

Edit: I do recommend trying to get yourself in the habit of temping though. I was all over the place at first too, but over time it's gotten better.

  • If you are taking iron AND a PNV with iron and haven't spoken to a physician about that, you really should.

    Otherwise, welcome.

Saw Palmetto helps promote healthy hormones in women and men.  It can regulate your estrogen and promote a healthy prostate in men.  I made sure to research well into and get a good, reliable brand.  I don't take the 'recommended dose'  I cut it in half because I don't have hormonal problems, but I like to make sure I keep them regulated.

  • So you're taking extra supplements, just because? Supplements, even ones that "promote healthy hormones" have side effects and should not be taken- even the half dose- unless you know there is something that needs regulating.
    Also,

  • Your hormones don't need regulated, they typically do that on their own.

Also, you do realize that he FDA doesn't step in an regulate supplements unless there is a problem. Your "reliable" brand may not be so reliable.

Stop with the vitamins other than a good ole' PNV. These "wonderful" vitamins you're taking could actually be hurting your chances.

So.... When you do get pregnant are you not going to take PNV then? Just curious? Also, does your doctor know you're taking all these vitamins at once? I obviously know these vitamins are healthy when taken properly, I'm just curious why you're jumping the gun on taking them. It's been 2 months we are all just trying to tell you to relax and chill out a little. Sex is really the only thing you need this early on.

  • Fair enough on the iron, a lot of people who take it do so without a physician recommendation and don't realize they probably get enough iron without it.

These ladies are full of knowledge about trying to conceive that a general practitioner is not specialized in and may not take into account. They are just trying to help.

And yes, jumping the gun on your health can be a bad thing if you over-due it. My OB told me not to take extra supplements unless there is something wrong. You wouldn't know if something is wrong or imbalanced after only 2 months.

Yes everyone gets anxious every cycle at some point. In the newbie posts it explains that you most of those concerns get expressed in the *2 week wait* and the *waiting to O* daily threads.

Welcome and good luck in your journey!

I will say it again... You asked for advice. You got advice. And trust me, advice on PNV is about the tamest advice you will ever get here. If you can't deal with that then you and your big girl panties are in for a bumpy ride.

One more thing, you thinkin you will O in 6 days based on a calendar is crap. Start temping. Otherwise, you will get a real lesson in fertility when you come back in four weeks and wonder why AF is "late" based on your magical calendar.

FF and other calendars are as useless as tits on a boar hog unless you add temps in with it.

I'm confused. You come here to talk about your personal sex life but you think talking PNV should remain a private issue. You asked for advice and you're getting it. Don't get crabby when someone gives you advice that you don't like.

I said that what I discussed with my physician was private.  PNV is just something I don't agree with and seeing how everyone reacted to my few little vitamins I take (which are already in PNV as it stands anyways) I figured I'd keep my opinion to PNV to myself.

And trust me, I'm not crabby or trying to 'attack' anyone.  I'm just letting everyone know my response to their opinions the way they are responding to mine.  Sorry if my reaction offended anyone or came across crabby.  Not my intention what so ever

I work with doctors. They're not all as godly as they're cracked up to be. And they can sure as shit be wrong.
  • Okay. I asked about the saw palmetto because I am an herbalist and know about this kind of stuff. I am of the opinion that if there is nothing wrong with you then you shouldn't be taking it. However, if your physician told you to take it then oh well. I can agree to disagree. That said, pre-natal vitamins can be and are filled with a lot of crap. You mentioned you said you haven't found a brand you find reliable. If you go to the health food store and get New Chapter you will find that they are awesome. But if you already know so much about supplements and stuff I figure to would know that. Which leads me to believe that the saw palmetto you have is probably not that great either if you didn't even know where to find good prenatals that you "agree" with. You need folic acid for growing a baby. If your physician tells you that you don't AND tells you to take saw palmetto.......well, you see where I am going with this right?

  • It's kind of dumb to take hormone "regulating" (read: altering) drugs. Natural doesn't mean safe. I find it odd that you are alright with potentially harming your fertility with unknown/not proven supplements but not ok with all of the KNOWN benefits of a PNV.

I'm curious if your physician knows about your aversion to a PNV. Any GP or OB worth their salt recommends them when TTC/pregnant.

With a PNV you urinate all the excess vitamins you don't use. Also, Rainbow Lite makes a vegan PNV that has no fillers. You can order them through Amazon. So there really isn't an excuse to avoid PNV. I'm also super curious how advice to get you knocked up isn't personal but your beliefs & misconceptions about PNV are?

I feel very strongly that you are not educated & the "research" you've done is web based crackpot sources.

Have fun with that. I just had a baby & I still take my PNV per my OB, GP and you know, science.
