i'm 12 weeks pregnant and in the last week or so i started getting really hungry. i mean wake up in the middle of the night, can't go back to sleep, dream of breakfast HUNGRY. anyone else experiencing this yet? i hear that ravenous hunger starts around week 14 or 16, so don't know why mine is starting so early. i already put on 6 lbs, so i am trying really hard to watch what i eat and make good choices. and now that my ms has subsided and actually have some energy, i started walking 30 min every day again. but i'm having a hard time finding satisfying snacks/foods to keep hunger in check, especially at night. a banana sometimes works, but last night at midnight i actually had to get up make myself a sandwich, i was so hungry.
i'm worried about gaining too much weight so what are some healthy, yet satisfying snacks you found?? nuts, yogurt, fruit don't really cut it. i mean they work for 30-45 min and then i'm hungry again.
thanks!!
Re: anyone else starving??
i'm hungry ALL THE TIME!!! i'll be twelve weeks this week but im still very sick but salt and vinegar crisps are my anti sickness cure
but allthough i'm hungry i struggle to eat anything warm or hot it has to be buttys mainly prawn mayo :P haha but yes i'm loving sea food and fish but obviously have to be careful what i eat
haha oh and what really makes me feel better was a stir fry in low fat cooking spray with just veg not meat then after greek yoghut with anything you can think of i love it with berrys hunny and some breakfast cereal :P soooooo good
Aim for foods with fat, fiber and protein as those will help you feel full. Fruit is good for you but pretty high in calories because of all the natural sugars. Low fat foods are often filled with sugar and end up being as high in calories but not as filling. I always feel full longer when I have a cheese omelet rather than cereal for breakfast. At night when I'm hungry I try to eat vegetables, either bell peppers or one of those steam in the microwave sides.
Stay away from sugary foods, especially soda and the holiday cookies because these will drop your blood sugar shortly after eating them, making you hungry again sooner. Also, your body can develop an addiction to sugar and make you crave it all the time.
Don't feel guilty about all the snacking, though, because your body is probably trying to tell you what it needs.
Oh my God, me too. I've been dreaming about food every night!
I bought a huge box of granola bars from Sam's Club and drink a cup of tea to feel full.
I was always hungry in my first pregnancy, as in, if I didn't eat every couple of hours (from before I even knew I was pregnant!), I felt like I would pass out. I'm in my second pregnancy now, and the opposite is true, nothing sounds good to eat, I get full easily and sometimes I have no appetite at all.
I never really found low calorie snacks that satisfied last pregnancy, so I gained weight that I really didn't want to. I haven't lost that weight yet, but I'm also not gaining yet this pregnancy when I had already gained 5-10 lbs last time. So, I wonder if that's what my body needed to support a healthy baby?
Yes! I've been eating constantly. I keep bringing what I think is a large amount of snacks with me to work...and then, presto! they disappear! ugh. I'm actually tired of eating sometimes, but I'm so hungry I can't help it!
Also, I never really got morning sickness, so I've definitely gained weight. I'm hoping I'll have enough energy in the second trimester to start working out more.
