...being a mom. And there's no such thing as a perfect mom - or a perfect human for that matter. I was on the birth without fear blog SO much while I was pregnant and just sent an email to an expecting friend recommending it, so I decided to see what was happening on the blog and found this great entry.

I know it's been said here before, but I don't think it can be said too many times. We're all doing our best and as long as we treat our children with love, we're not doing anything wrong. Mothering is not a competition.

Everyone will have opinions on child-rearing and that is okay. It is okay to hold certain expectations of yourself.. but also realize there may need to be a plan B or even a plan C. It isn't okay to apply your expectations to someone else. While it may bewilder you that someone chooses a certain path for their child, respect their wishes and if they ask for advice, give it. Do not shove it down their throat and treat your advice as fact, to me it is disrespectful and demeaning.

People need to learn how to swallow their pride -sometimes- and just say "That is good for you." if they really do not like something someone is doing.
