More annoying types on FB

Here is another annoying type of person on FB:

The person that doesn't post much but when they do, it's to ask for help/put you to work 99.5% of time.  I have two of these in my stream and they are about to get hidden.  One former co-worker who is also a mid thirties aged mom of 2 posts things like:

Where can I get stylish (for my age) fall clothes that are inexpensive but will last this season and next...GO!  (she always puts GO in there)
What are some of your best toddler friendly meals...GO!

The other is my DH's friend's wife.  She posts these URGENT requests for help like this:

HELP!!!  I was walking out the door with the fruit platter and dropped it!!!!  What is something quick I can grab at the grocery store to bring to a kids party???!!!!  (Umm, really?  You can't just go get a package of cookies or something?)  Or she posted something like this once:

HELP!!!  I got my new MacBook and it deleted my files!!!  HELP MAC PEOPLE!!

Facebook is not only to put your network to work for you!

  • I don't think I would find those annoying. :-S

  • I have a "private" group I belong to that is for mom's selling kids things. Great idea. Except one particular person feels its her special place to blast her 31 products and her photography business (that sucks mind you.) I won't order a product from you nor will I use your "photography" business for any photos. No matter how many times you remind people! UGH!

  • I find no issue with any of those.
  • OK, I guess I'm just a grouch then that doesn't think FB is only your personal help system - I want you to be witty, funny, thoughtful, or something else dammit.  I'm the cheese standing alone on this one.

  • I have one that is really bad. She's a SAHM and does nothing but bitch about her kids. It's sad.  :-?

    Married: 11/2011
    DS-9/2012
    DD-7/2015
Sweet Angel Boy born too soon 12/17/17
    EDD-4/2019

  • I think it depends a lot on your feelings about the poster. Some people just irritate me, period,  and EVERYTHING they post annoys me. I have always hated the vaguebookers. I refuse to acknowledge obvious and blatant begging for attention.

My latest pet peeve is a college acquaintance I like to call Poor Little Rich Girl. I just deleted her this weekend. Statuses like:

"EXHAUSTED!!! Cleaned 3 of my bathrooms and on to #4! My husband tells me to just get a maid but no one cleans your own house like you do, so now my back will be in spasms for DAYS!"

"Happy Anniversary to ME! Guess I was a good girl this year!" Followed by pictures of Tiffany boxes, a Louboutin shoe box, and a bottle of Dom Perignon.

My eyes practically rolled OUT of my head with every post.

Yeah, I can't stand the woman that is DH's husband's friend and should delete her.  I too hate the vaguebooking - dying for attention!

That poor little rich girl sounds awful and totally delete worthy.

    Nope.

    @mommap12 I'll stand with you and mine is SUPER flame worthy. The SAHM who has 3 kids in middle/elementary school. She goes to the gym for 2+ hours a day - great!, her husband makes $$$ - awesome!, she's always posting about watching Dexter/Breaking Bad/movie marathons during the middle of the day - fine! BUT she always complains about how hard her life is...how she has to dig in and work (these posts often come from Whole Foods or her gym)...that's where I roll my eyes. {There's also some back history with us, making me extra judgy}

Edit: When I say she complains about "digging in and working" I'm NOT insinuating SAHM's don't work. I'm saying watching movie marathons on your couch is not work...just to clarify. Staying home with kids of any age is tots work!

  • I'm probally an annoyance to most.  The ONLY thing I post is about DS.  The only reason I'm on FB is to share pics of him with family.  There are no pics of me on there, only him.

  • This only bothers me if it exists for the purpose of bragplainting or if the person is a drama llama and doesn't actually want advice, they want to woe is me without just out and saying it.  And I think sometimes you just have to follow someone for a while or know them to know that that's what they're doing with their "I have a question!" posts.

The ones that really  bug me are the self-serving ones constantly advertising their products or "vote for my kid" or whatever.  I have a friend who sells those body wrap do-jobs and posts about it constantly.  You get a couple of these a year, IMO, if you're a regular FB poster.  Use them wisely.  Otherwise you're just pissing people off.  (And consider a dedicated page for your business, not just spamming your friends from your personal account, guh.)

Oh my GOD, yes. So badly last week, I wanted to post on DH's cousin's status: "Ya know what, I may have actually bought a Yankee candle for Tommy's Cub Scout fundraiser. But now that you've bombarded me with daily posts, private messages and emails about it and how desperately Tommy wants to win the dart gun or the Lego kit for selling X number of candles (not because it's a worthy cause and might go to fund some kind of educational or enrichment program), I think I'll pass. Because you're annoying."

I have a wrap person too!! Everytime I get on fb there is at least two posts about how great the wraps are and how well they work at getting pounds to fall off yet she is 5'6" and weighs well over 300 lbs and supposedly uses them daily....I'm not seeing where they work!

  • My dad is a college professor, and once asked me if I would let one of his students interview me about my job. Fine. She was pleasant, etc etc - and afterwards friended me on Facebook. I accepted, because I use my FB for a lot of work/professional and mentoring connections.

Last week, she posted requesting people to contribute to her son's school fundraiser, and TAGGED ME in the post, along with a handful of other people. Um, honey, no.

I also don't think i'd find the OP examples so annoying, but only because I'm comparing them to the shitload of annoying people in my feed.

Wait, she tagged you as in "eshee, I know you'll contribute"? WTH is the matter with people?

For serious. My eyes almost rolled out of my head.

  • I'm friends with a girl who is a beachbody coach and that is all she posts about.  Blurry pictures of herself working out, what she cooked, her post-workout.  She also posts like three paragraph statuses about how inspired she is about her life and her workouts.

I cannot stand when people post things just looking for attention.  "ugh, such a rough day" then when people ask what happened they say they don't want to talk about it. Ok, then don't post it.

People who change their profile pictures every other day.

People who just complain about everything!  "Just spilled my coffee in my car, today is the worst day ever" No, i'm pretty sure your day could be a lot worse.

I live four states away from all of my family and most of my friends so I use Facebook to keep in touch with them. I just block annoying people from status updates.

  • I hate all of the above mentioned offenders. The worst on my feed is a single mom of three kids. She is always talking about how she needs to move out of her moms, she always asks for rides because she has no gas money. Yet everyday she bought concert tickets, a new movie, got her nails done or a tattoo. And she always complains about other people yelling at her kids because they are disruptive. She will be like, how dare that bitch at the pool tell my son to stop slashing her! I almost ripped her hair out. lovely. If it happens as often as she says they must be horrid.
