anyone bring quiet activity for DD during naptime?

DD is starting to not nap (and we are encouraging it b/c of the late bedtime...sadly we cannot have DS skip nap b/c he melts down by 6pm and as a result is up until 10 every night...sigh) and at their school if the kids don't nap, we have to provide a quiet activity for their cots. DD has been doing some coloring books, stickers, drawing & whatnot but she is starting to fill them up quickly & I'm looking for some quiet things that will keep her busy but won't result in me having to spend $20 on naptime activities every week! Any ideas beyond coloring or sticker books/activities? (i have gotten a variety of highlights mags in the past for car trips & they don't seem to hold her interest much)

She really likes those mosaic sticker things (we've gotten a jewelry box & bracelets as gifts) but they seem to only come w/ a few items per set for like $12-$15 and it seems like she'd do one every day if she is working on it for an hour and be done w/ the whole thing in a week and I'd be getting new ones...

    Last year when DS was four, he was allowed search-a-words, mazes, and crosswords. All the kids who didn't nap were asked to do their activities while lying on their stomachs and propping themselves on their elbows. This was meant to help them gain upper body strength.

    Wow, both to your four yr old doing crossword puzzles and making them lie on their stomachs for nap time, did they not mind that?!

    I'm guessing an iPad or similar tablet would be out of the question for DC. However, the apps will keep DD busy for hrs. Audio book with headphones?

    Etch a sketch or aqua-doodle or something similar? Get 5 books out of the library each week and have her take one to school - ones with lots of pictures.

    I was thinking aqua doodle or magna doodle as well.  DD will draw on those for long periods of time in her room at home during quiet time.    And also ditto longer picture books, where she can tell herself the story.  Can you find a compilation of several books so she wouldn't finish in 5 minutes?  We inherited a book with like 10 Disney princess stories, but something like a compilation of several Clifford books or something like that?

    They were pretty basic but he does catch on quick to things like that and I'm not sure how old your LO is do I don't know if it is an option. I think I found them at target... And as for the stomach thing, I'm not sure how much trouble it was to keep them like that but our preK teacher felt pretty strongly about the exercise.
