Bring me off the ledge....totally freaking out!!

Before I get into this can I just say I understand nurses have lives too and families and such but I wish I wouldn't have been left hanging!!
So, I left work today at 4:30pm...no messages on my phone and what not. I forgot to turn my ringer off of silent for my drive home, well about 4:50pm I had a voice mail from my Dr's nurse only telling me that when I get this message to call the clinic. I called at 4:58pm and could only talk to a receptionist who couldn't look at my papers or anything. So now I'm freaking out as I won't be able to talk to anyone till 8 tomorrow morning!! At my last appointment all we did was hear the baby's heartbeat which was at a 140 strong and loud, get the flu shot, and they did take a sample of blood to check and see if I'm immune to the chicken pox. I work in a daycare and recently one of the kids in my room came down with chicken pox so they took blood for a blood tightener test to see if I'm immune to the virus cause I was vaccinate when I was little obviously but never did actually get the chicken pox even though I was exposed to them.
I'm hoping that is all they are calling me about cause I don't know what else it could be!! I'm just a nervous wreck now and will be all night which I'm sure will not help me sleep...oh I feel sorry for my boyfriend!!

  • Breathe!!! She just said to call. Don't stress about it too much. I think if it was very serious, the doctor would have called.

  • Calm down, they always call with bloodwork.  If that's the only thing you've had done recently, then that's what they're calling about.  They'll either tell you that you're immune or you're not.  I get that calls can be nervewracking when it comes to test results, but this one seems pretty easy peasy and you're stressing yourself out for nothing.

  • She wouldn't have called at 4:50 and expected you to call back in the next few minutes if it was really an emergency either. Wait until morning, don't freak yourself out.

  • I wouldn't freak out either. I'm sure she was just calling with test results from your titer. I'm sure whatever it is can wait until the morning.

  • Thanks ladies! Now that I've relaxed a bit at home and ate some pineapple...I feel much better and I'm sure that's what they are calling about...Just needed to get it off my chest and out there, with me being home alone and my boyfriend working till the sun is gone I needed someone to freak out to a little bit!
  • They called me today too.  Same thing - bloodwork. I can't change whatever the results are and my baby will still be alive when I find out tomorrow.  Breathe with me.  We'll get answers tomorrow.  I won't get mine until after 3:30 though because of work :(

  • The nurses at my OBGYN kept doing this to me as well. The first time I was a nervous wreck. Turns out the call was just to tell me all was clear. Wtf? I assume its all clear unless you call me!!

  • Did everything come back ok from the doctor this morning?

  • It did just end up being about my blood work! They wanted me to know that I'm not immune to the chicken pox virus and that if anymore kids at my daycare come down with it to stay away from them (no kidding) along with anyone else who may care for them...parents ect...cause they could be carriers. So, because they cannot give me the vaccine now I will have that to look forward to after gummy bear is born!
