Getting whites white....

DH is a coal miner and comes home so dirty, and he can never wait to hold DD until after he gets a shower. Which is okay with me bc I would rather him be like that than walk right past her. She has a good bit of white onesies and they look a little dingy to me. Between the coal dust and formula stains her shirts and burp cloths they need a whitening. Anyone know anything that works good? I even use Shout! But it doesn't seem to do the job.

  • Bleach with an extra rinse afterwards?

  • Get Zout.  It works wonders.  I used it on Kate's burp cloths and they went from dingy to bright white again.  I found it at Walmart.

Great! Going to have to pick some up! Ty!
  • We wash with HOT water and also add a scoop of oxi-clean to the load (in addition to the detergent). I'm not sure if that will help with coal dust but it works for us. We also got some Shout for Grease Stains pretreater for stains that are made with his vitamins. It really works to get them out.

  • I'm a laundry freak. Lol I swear by anything tide or Clorox for heavy duty stains! I coupon and ad shop so I don't spend a whole lot more on it than other detergents. I use the advanced vivid for whites and colors for tough stains. I then put 2 stain lifting boosters in too. Try Clorox 2 or Tide boost. Hard water matters too so try adding a capful of Calgon to clear the hard water from your clothes.

  • My husband works on an oil and gas rig. His clothes and body are just stained always.. You can use Dawn dish soap first and then rewash the clothes in something else. It helps a lot.

I second the dawn dish soap. I use a lot to get stains out.
