C section vs Vaginal

I'm being induced on Saturday at 36 weeks due to growth issues in one baby. On Friday both babies were head down. On Monday at my MFM appointment baby A which is having the growth issues flipped! I didn't know they would do that so late in the game. They have both been head down for probably 2 months. Anyways, since one is breeched now, would you try to do one vaginally and if successful, try the breech extraction? And if that doesn't work be given a c section. My fear is having to heal from both. Should I just opt for c section? I've always "heard" you should opt for a surgery unless medically necessary? Thank you!

If baby A is still breech and is the one closer to the cervix you might not get the option. My doctor said If the baby closer to to cervix is breech it is an automatic c-section.

I should have added that baby A is actually now baby B because he is not as low as he was. I've just gotten to "know" them and their movements and attached their birth name. So it's weird for me to call them the opposite. Sorry I should have been more clear.

Assuming there were no other concerns with the babies and you're healthy, I would try for a vaginal delivery since the lowest baby is head down. It is possible that the second baby could flip again once given space or they can try for the breech extraction. I had an appointment today and while I'm only 8 weeks, my doctor encourages a vaginal delivery even if the second baby is breech so long as there are no other concerns.

I had baby a vaginally. Baby b flipped once his sister was out and was in place for a vaginal delivery. When they broke his water, his cord prolapsed, and he was an emergency csection instead. I had the double wammy and would still try for a vaginal delivery if I were to do it again.

Well then by all means I'd try for vaginal if I were you!

If Baby B is the smaller one, a breech extraction is a reasonable option, if your doctor is experienced in such matters. I was going for that but B measured a whole pound bigger right before birth and there was too much risk, my doctor thought, of him getting stuck. And he was a proponent of breech extractions. So, we went for a scheduled c-section and it was amazing. No regrets. It really depends on getting yourself comfortable with the possibilities.

I agree with the other ladies. I would try for the vaginal deliveries. I wish I had that chance. Both of mine were head down for months. I ended up in a emergency c/s. Had everything went well, I would have tried vaginally.

I personally had a c-section but in my experience not all doctors are willing to do a breech extraction so you will need to clarify with your doctor and make sure that any other doctor who may end up attending your birth (other doctors in the practice, depending on the on call schedule) are also willing to do it if need be. However they make they're entry I hope it goes very well!

I am only 31w3d but as long as everything "lines up" I will be doing a VBAC. My DD was breech so I had a section almost 12 years ago. Right now (as of 10am) Baby A was inferior and head down while Baby B is superior and breech. My OB said I can do what I want as long as it works for the 3 of us

As long as your OB is comfortable doing a breech extraction, Twin A is head down, and Twin B is smaller than Twin A I would attempt the vaginal delivery. I delivered Twin A vaginally after 3 hours of pushing then my contractions stopped. Once they started back up, I pushed for 3 more hours before delivering Twin B. My OB actually said my delivery would have been easier overall if Twin B had turned breech and she could have just pulled him out.

Depending on the position of your twins and risks, surgery may be medically necessary. My baby A was head down and Baby B breech. Based on our personal situation we decided c/s was best. My girls had a significant size discordance with breech B being smaller. The OB's informed me that when there's a discordance the smaller baby usually has trouble flipping and may run into complications. We had been through so much already that I wanted to provide the safest route possible for them both.
