Babies: 6 - 9 Months

Any moms with preeclampsia

Okay ladies I really need advice, did any ladies on here have preeclampsia and your baby was a low birth weight and short? My Son is now 6 month and has grown 6 inches, but on 10lbs. But they are sending him for all this blood work because his growth is starting in a downward trend. My first thought was well at first he grew so much because I starved him my whole pregnancy his umbilical cord was half the size it should have been. But I am so worried I don't even know what to think.

Re: Any moms with preeclampsia

  • Not sure how old your LO is. I had Preeclampsyia. My 6 month old has gained 9 lbs. He's in the 56th percentile. He's growing just fine. 6 inches sounds like a lot. I done think Preeclampsyia would have anything to do with that but I hope you can find out answers soon.

  • I had preeclampsia. I was induced and DD was born at 36w 1 d at 7 pounds 12 ounces. At 8 months old she's only 15.5 pounds, so very little. She's gaining though and is following a curve. I'm not sure what your question is but if you're asking if pre-e has anything to do with a baby's growth in their first year, the answer is no. Everything I've read and been told by my doctors is that it won't effect my DD in any way (now that she is out of my obviously!).

  • I was borderline- one week yes, later on no, next week yes... DS was born at 39.5 weeks, at 7 lbs 14 oz, and 20.5 inches. Now, at 7 months, he's 29 inches and 22 lbs. He's in the 80's/90's % for head and weight, and over 100% for height.
