Those who have had it or have it now, please tell me your experiences! I am supposed to go in tomorrow to get it but my husband is a little freaked that it will hurt me.
I had no side effects. There are always those with horror stories but the vast majority are just fine (of course stats don't matter only the experience an individual has). Insertion was hardly a bother. Didn't mess with my breastfeeding. Stayed put till I had them remove it. I was able to get pregnant just months after having it out (basically as soon as we started trying). Easy method for while also juggling a LO. I would totally get it again without reeservation, but we're done now, so DH is the one with a drs appt!
Well I got mine in at 7 weeks pp and I'll be 10 weeks pp this Thursday and I'm still bleeding for it. My OB told me that I could bleed for up to two months after its put it.
I just trying to look at the benefits. I can't bleed forever and I will have bc for five years.

Pretty much all of this. I did get it again even though we're done since we're not commuting to permanent bc just yet.
I was one of the unfortunate ones who didnt like it and had a bad experience. I had it for 5 months and had to have it removed. I started getting stomach pains.. At first it wasn't so bad and I thought it was my period starting but the longer I had it the more pain I was in. I was keeled over in the bathroom and went to the hospital, had it removed. There was no damage or anything, my Gyno just said its better for some then others. Now I have to venture out and find a new BC.. The pill causes me migraines.
Anyways, that was just me... I've heard tons of good things about it.. Hardly any bad things
I was a horror story with it. But I still think it is an amazing form of BC.
Just remind him that if you do have any side effects, and they aren't something you are willing to tolerate, just go get it removed. The effects wear off quickly. Good luck tomorrow!

I had it for 5 years. I loved it, plus never had a period or side effects. Then I got it removed...Once it was out, I realized how much it effected my mood and personality. I will never get it again. I just didn't realize the side effects. Even MH notices, I feel and act much happier!
It didn't hurt much getting it put in, just some cramping.
I had it in between my toddler and baby. I will not be getting it again. It was just the same as all other hormonal birth control and I don't like how I feel while on it. I am getting the non hormonal IUD in a couple weeks.
I liked it a lot while it was in but a pp said I won't be getting it again because of the way it made me, much happier while not on it. Also I developed cysts on my ovaries and had to have it removed because of pain.
I'm not certain exactly how it affected me, to be honest. I've had mood disorders in the past but in the last year I found a medication combo that worked really well for me. After that I got off birth control and I've been flying high for a while.
I got the IUD placed almost 2 weeks ago, we'll see how this plays out.

Edit: after reading everyone's post I realized I have been a bit more bitchy these last two weeks....
