went to the ER. i feel like such a whiney baby. just venting

i just need to vent and whine. I dont really need sympathy i just need to get this out. So yesterday i was having really bad pains in my right side, it gradually got worse. I worked all day, went home, got worse, took tylenol pm and went to bed. Woke up at midnight with TERRIBLE pain. So bad i was sweating and nauseated. I couldnt sleep and honestly had never felt something so terrible. Finally after some convincing from my doctor i went to the ER because they were thinking it was my appendix. i thought i would go, they would check me out, tell me it isnt my appendix and i would be home in a couple of hours. I even went by myself i thought i would be back soon. Nope i was there from 2-11am. They did  ultrasounds, had multiple doctors poke me, and an MRI. Turns out it is just round ligament pain that is constant and causing muscle spasms in my back and side muscles. Also the baby is resting on my kidneys or something (according to the ultrasound tech who has been doing this for 35 years she thinks that is the main problem).  I had no idea RLP could be this painful. I have had it for weeks but it will be like stabbing for a little bit and then get better but this has been almost 36 hours now of constant pain and going into my back. i am just in shock a growing uterus can cause this. why does no one ever talk about how terrible pregnancy is? they gave me pain meds and flexeril for the spasms but it is still terrible. i have always been so tough with pain and so strong but pregnancy is really kicking my butt. i am beyond thankful to be pregnant but i have no idea how someone can go through this multiple times

  • Wow, I had no idea rlp could be that bad! I'm sorry you are in such pain. I had rlp with dd in the third trimester and it was really uncomfortable and hurt, but never that bad. Hope it goes away soon.

  • Yikes!  I've had pains so bad that I've felt nauseated, but thankfully they haven't lasted as long as yours have.  Hope your ligaments get where they need to be, and stop bothering you soon!

  • I nearly blacked out by a RLP the other night. DH freaked out and shook me. I collapsed back onto the couch in the middle of a sentence. It was like white hot lightning. Made me throw up. This stuff is no joke!!! Take care of yourself!

  • Poor thing! I didn't know rlp could be so bad either. I guess at least it's nothing worse though? Pregnancy really is terrible! I remember not enjoying pregnancy the first time but the memory really has faded. It sucks in a totally different way this time too! You'll get through it though and I promise it will all be worth it!

  • Sweet jesus...this sounds awful....

Women are freaking amazing....seriously!! The stuff we go through....we deserve some serious credit, if not medals/awards.

Hang in there, ladies. I'm sorry you're going through this pain :(
  • Google pics of what happens to your organs during pregnancy. It's amazing the systems still work with how much things move and squish.

  • Had the same thing with my first, the pain was bad enough my Dr put me on bedrest because i refused to take the pain meds and stuff they were dishing out.
Good news is second one was MUCH better with the rlp, but he had an issue with his placenta and part of it torn away and once again I ended up on bedrest after an emergency U/S.
the really crazy thing is I remember their pregnancies as being SO much easier then this one, didn't have morning sickness, heartburn, or really any other issues with them their whole pregnancy.
This time it has been back to back morning sickness, hearn burn, upset stomach, food aversions, food cravings often the things I just couldn't even stand hearing the name of.
But in the end you get this beautiful perfect little bundle of joy that makes it all so worth it.
