Expecting in the Milwaukee area

Hi all -
I just found out that I am pregnant with my first little one! I recently moved to the area, so I don't know many people here, let alone others who are expecting/have little ones.  Anyone else from around here? I'd love to get some advice on hospitals/obgyn and everything else!
Thanks!

  • I see Dr. Brian Bear through Aurora. He is located out by Mayfair. I like him. I know a lot of people who see him and love him too.

  • I'm 5 weeks along and in Milwaukee.  My Gyn is in Racine where I work, but I'm looking to pic an OB that has admitting rights at St. Joe's (Wheaton Francisan) in Milwaukee.  I was born at St. Joe's and they also are equipt well for high risk pregnancies...which I am due to my AMA. (I hate that phrase!)

My SIL had her baby at West Allis and loved it.

  • I just had my baby about 5 months ago and delivered at the medical college. I was originally going to deliver at West Allis but changed my doctor/hospital mid pregnancy. I am glad I did because my son actually had complications and spent a week in Children's. Since the the two locations are together, we didn't need to transport him and they even let me keep my room for the entire week at no additional costs. The nurses were amazing there and SO helpful. I also love my doctor, much better than who I had before.

I had a couple of friends who had not so great experiences at West Allis, but I am sure there are good and bad things at any hospital! Good luck and congrats!

  • Kplow, who was your OB?  I'm still researching mine.  My GYN helps get you pregnant and then passes you along.  Although, I'll need to make a decision soon!

  • I delivered my first at the medical college and will for number 2 as well. It was a great experience all around. I see Dr. Burke from the Lincoln ave clinic in West Allis. My delivery was super quick, so someone completely new to me delivered my son, but it was still great.
