Success after IF

Restless leg?

Do any of you ladies suffer from restless leg?  Or did you during pregnancy?  I googled last night, and apparently 1 in 4 women suffer from this during pregnancy.  And I think I have it!  When I am sitting at my desk at work, I feel like I need to get up and run across the room.  I took a 30 minute walk at lunch today hoping it would help, but nope.  I'm sitting here wiggling my legs and dying to run down the hallway.  What gives?  This is so weird!

Re: Restless leg?

  • Yep. I had it during pregnancy and even before that. It can drive you crazy. Have you tried a warm bath and massage? How are you sleeping? Sometimes that can affect it too.

  • I haven't... I have a weird thing about baths, they freak me out.  I tried rubbing lotion on them for a long time last night, I read that the slow massage method of rubbing in lotion was supposed to help.  Do you mean how well am I sleeping?  Usually, really well.  The last 2 nights, not good.  E's been up so I'm exhausted.
Sorry you had this too @mdiblasi10.  Do you still have it?
I had a similar thing in my arm after my surgery, and I found out it could be related to the opioid pain killers I was on, so I stopped them cold turkey (which actually exacerbates it.  Oops.)

  • I still have it, but it's just rubbing my feet together when I am sitting. During pregnancy was definitely worse. Yeah, painkillers definitely make it worse too. I know the handful of times I have gone to the ER for a bad migraine, the IV pain meds (just Toradol, not even the narcotic meds) really aggravated it. I hope you can find something that helps!!

  • No real advice, I just know that sometimes it's associated with anemia...not sure that you're far enough along in pregnancy to be anemic yet but might be something to get checked next appointment.
  • Thanks @kaf7, I saw that too.  I typically eat a very high protein diet, with a lot of leafy greens.  So iron deficiency is not something I would expect.  But I will definitely bring it up.  Thanks!
