2nd Trimester

Headaches :/

Ugh, second trimester has brought with it those annoying wee headaches :(  Seems like I get these small, yet really obnoxious headaches almost daily.  My blood pressure has been fine.

Anyone else?

ugh, another perk of pregnancy :-*

Re: Headaches :/

  • I had my first migraine when I was pregnant with my son. I had consistent annoying headaches through 3rd tri with my daughter.

  • Oh yes. About a month and a half ago I was having horrible headache pain every single day. I brought it up to my OB and she suggested 400 mg of magnesium oxide twice a day. It is a natural supplement that expands your blood vessels in the brain that are constricted due to Estrogen levels. I haven't had a headache since!! It is magic :)

Ask you OB about that. Good luck.

  • YES! I've never gotten headaches in the past, and all of a sudden I was getting them almost daily. I noticed that if I had a large amount of water it made the headaches stay away 1.5 liters +. And also not going long periods of time without eating - it could be something very small - fruit, crackers, etc... just a little something. Since I've been doing both of those the headaches have stayed away. Feel better!

  • I actually woke up with one of those this morning. The small annoying headaches seem to be getting more frequent, it's not a pleasant symptom. I did notice that the more I eat and drink when I have them, the faster they go away. I think it's just my body telling me to go eat in yet another fun way, if its not a headache then it's nausea! I try to eat often enough anyway but I guess sometimes, it's just not good enough!

  • I had migraines before becoming pregnant and had no issues with headaches my first trimester. Starting at 14 weeks, I got 4 migraines in 2 weeks, along with daily smaller headaches. Nothing really helped, except getting enough sleep. The good news is that at 19 weeks, the headaches seem to have decreased on their own, so maybe just another hormonal shift.

    Hope yours go away soon!
  • I've had a headache almost constantly for several weeks. It's miserable! I've also been getting worse and more frequent migraines. Just hoping and praying for some relief soon since nothing really helps. Hope you find relief soon too.

  • I too have headaches - I wake up with them.  I  think it's tension, so I try stretching, which seems to help a bit.   I wonder if I'm clenching my jaw at night, I wear a mouth guard, but I have some CRAZY dreams, and maybe that's making me tense.   I got my DH to give me a little should rub this morning and that helped - maybe try that?
