Yesterday I was 39 weeks. My DH an our 2 kids went out for Mexican food for dinner. I made sure to have a side of jalapeños. At the end of the meal I felt a backache during one of my usual contractions. We left the restaurant and went to my parents house just to stop in and say hello. I didn't know they were having a family friend over for dinner, and we arrived at the same time as her. Before their meal, the guest prayed and included "Dear God, if it is your will, please let Michelle's water break while I'm here." I instantly felt like I'd been jinxed. Not even 10mins later I felt a squirt. I went to the bathroom and cleaned up, unsure if I had peed myself from all the water I drank. Then I felt a large squirt and knew exactly what it was. It was 6:45pm. Contractions didn't really start for about 35mins. I got home and showered and finished packing my bag. It was bedtime for my kids and DD didn't want me to leave. It was heartbreaking. Finally she let grandpa take over and DH and I left for the hospital, arriving at 9pm. I wanted to stay home longer but I was more stressed there with the kids. Plus I had called my OBs exchange to give him a heads up since I knew I'd go fast. We get in our room and I get on the monitor while they ask a ton of admission questions. I'm still pretty comfortable. I was 5cm and 100% effaced. Last Thursday I was 4cm and 70%. Finally, at 9:55pm I'm off the monitor and free to move. Nurse said she'd be back at 10:40 for my next 20min monitoring. DH and a friend were there to support me. At first walking helped but them it soon felt like every time I moved another contraction started. I got on all fours on the couch and that helped. My friend applied counter pressure and it helped between contractions but I didn't want to be touched during one. I was quickly approaching that "I can't do this" phase. The nurse returned at 10:15 with a birthing ball and I asked to be checked. It was the hardest thing ever to climb back into bed and I knew I couldn't stay in bed to be monitored again soon. I again repeated and cried that I couldn't do it without meds. Luckily, I had refused an IV so I knew it was impossible for me to get anything; but it just felt good to verbalize this. The nurse checked me and said I was 7cm but that the head was still a -1. Well, with the very next contraction I could feel my vagina opening as the head came down. I said "the baby is coming now!" I literally squeeze my legs together I try to wait for assistance. But then I felt the baby crowning and knew there was no stopping it. I told my friend to throw on some gloves because she was the closest person. Head came out in one push at the time another nurse walked in to help. It seemed like my next contraction was a good minute later before the body came out, into the nurses hands. The on call doctor was right down the hall and he didn't even have time to make it! I had a 2nd degree tear and some labial tears. My doctor showed up and said he had called to check on me because he was wondering what was taking so long, and he was told I had just delivered. Lincoln Bennett was born at 10:28pm weighing 8lbs 5oz and 21ins long. Total labor was 3hrs 45mins, of which I was only in pain for 30mins. I'm still in shock of how quick it happened, but I'm so relieved I DID IT!!
Re: I did it! My second precipitous birth, 1st med free!

Water dripping everywhere, my husband trying to get me out the door and my daughter clinging to my neck screaming no!! But she is no more in love with her new sister than she is with me!
