Babies: 9 - 12 Months

Standing = Sleeping Issues? (Help)

For the past couple of nights, LO have been behaving very unlike herself. After our bedtime routine, we usually give her a bottle and off she goes to bed (sometimes drowsy and sometimes not) and eventually, she'll fall asleep on her own. But the last couple of nights, she would stand herself up and cry really hard..and not sleep until we carry her.  She also have no interest in her last bottle of milk.  Does it have anything to do with her...just learned out to stand in her crib (curiosity)? It's the same for her middle of the night feeding. Usually, after we feed her, she'll go back to bed, but last night, she cried and cried until we rock her to sleep in our arms. I'm a FTM...in lost of words and are quite confused of what's been going on.  A Phase?  Testing our limits?  Normal?

What are your thoughts?   Thank you in advance.

Re: Standing = Sleeping Issues? (Help)

  • It's a phase. We went through this the week before LO turned 9 months. He learned how to stand in his crib. That is all he wanted to do and would wake multiple times a night. It lasted about a week and a half.  His is back on track with STTN now. Good luck!

  • DD#2 was STTN until 2 weeks ago, when she learned to stand up in her crib. She's been waking at least once a night ever since.

  • Our daughter did this one just this past week, and still occasionally will but usually it just takes us going in there and laying her back down once for her to stop now. From what I've heard from others, it's a pretty common phase.

  • Yes, it is a phase. DS was not nearly as bad though.  I quickly taught himj how to get back down safely. When he first learned to pull himself up, he didn't know how toget down, so he cried. After he learned to sit down, there were still a number of days that he would just keep pulling himself up, sit down, pull up, sit down repeatedly instead of just going to sleep.  Eventually the novelty wore off and he is back to his old self.
