DH can't make it to my doc appts..... :(

I'm trying to not be a big baby but DH missed my last check up 3 weeks ago and will most likely miss my next two appts next week (2nd trimester scan and regular OBGYN check up). DH works in law enforcement and its just so hard scheduling these appointments so he can be there. I know he really wants to be there and tries really hard so I'm trying to put my big girl panties on and not let pregnancy hormones get the best if me. He's a federal officer so with the threat of this government shut down, time off is pretty much a no go right now. Okay..... Whining session over.

I'm sorry, that sucks. Mh was out of the country for my entire 2nd tri and half of the third. It sucks to go through it alone. And I know YH hates it too.

Aww hun. I'm sorry. The first appt dh missed, I cried like a baby! You can post to us right away that made me feel better . Its ok to cry, I did!

my DH was only able to get off for the first 2 ultrasounds at the RE (at 6 weeks and 7 weeks) and my first MFM visit at 10 weeks. Oh, and an emergency one 2 weeks ago when I fell. But that's all, I may see if he can go to one more ultrasound in November with me just to see them because it's been so long, but aside from that, he can't take much time off. I did have my OB's office fill out FMLA paperwork for him to take intermittent time off for emergency appointments so incase something happens he can leave work and call out and not have to answer all their ridiculous questions about it. Sorry you're feeling sad, but hopefully he'll be able to take much more time off right after the birth!

Because of work my dh has only come to one re appt at 6w. It sucks but it is what it is.

I know what you mean, my husband is in the Army and hasn't been able to come to a single appointment except for our very first with the RE. It feels so weird that he has never even met my doctor. I feel more bad for him than me though, at least I get to see our growing girls every week or two and all he gets is a blurry ultrasound picture. Hang in there, it sucks but it's just the way things are. When you marry a man in uniform, you serve too to a certain extent...and this is just one of those sacrifices that has to be made so he can help make this world a little safer for everyone.

I am sorry your DH can't share the appt. with you, sometimes they can put it on a CD so you can share with DH at home. My DH has only been able to make the 6 week appt. is there someone else you would like to have with you that might be available, I know it's not the same but it might be nice to have someone else to gush over your LO too

All my family lives in Arizona or Alaska. I suppose I could ask a friend to go but I'd probably still be feeling a little sad. Stupid government shut down!!!

My DH still hasn't met my OB due to sudden work meetings. He's only made it to MFM scans. I'm hoping nothing comes up during this month's appt. and that he even likes the OB. At halfway through, it may be difficult to change providers.

@mjc1116 You're so sweet! Haha. Where in LA are you at?? No, hubby is federal law enforcement not city. Your brother should be okay with the shutdown. Thankfully DH is still going to work but just not sure when he'll get paid.

My DH is federal law enforcement as well, so I can 100% relate. He is gone a LOT and wasn't there for my ER, or my ET and has never met my Dr. either. It's rough. I am hoping he can be there for our first ultrasound and our anatomy scan, but I don't want to count on it and then be disappointed. We also have no family around, so if DH doesn't go, I'm on my own. I'm so sorry you are in the same spot! It's not fun. If you ever want to vent, I'm here!
