Anyone uncomfortable sleeping on stomach?

This is #2 for me. My 1st tri last time I was able to lay on my stomach comfortably. This time I am soo nauseated and bloated that I feel like I am 5 months pregnant. Which is actually really uncomfortable for me to sleep on my stomach. So much for 3 months of comfort. ** I know by 2nd tri you should not sleep on your stomach.

Re: Anyone uncomfortable sleeping on stomach?

  •  slept on my stomach until about 15 weeks last time.  I have a terrible time falling asleep any other way.  I know my days are numbered and I'm dreading it.

  • i'm a belly sleeper and i'm trying to train myself to sleep on my side. i'm getting there, but I keep rolling over onto my front. I have a history of insomnia, so getting to sleep is pretty hard for me. I have to be absolutely comfortable. I hope I can figure it out soon. I don't like being on my stomach anymore as I can kind of feel a pressure low down, like i'm pushing stuff in that wants to be out.

  • Yes! I slept on my stomach until close to twenty weeks last time! My OB said it was fine as long as it was comfortable. My hips are already so stiff from side sleeping.

  • Between my sore breasts and my now easily triggered bladder, I have been sleeping on my side for at least a week consciously.

@awc1986 for insomnia, I have a long history of it, I have found several solutions that help.

I used to read, however, the light keeps me feeling more alert. So I tried listening to music while waiting for that sleepy feeling, that works, but it requires attention to the music player to choose the best songs. Recently, I have discovered audio books seem to do the trick. I will listen for a while, and when I start drifting I turn it off and off to dream land.

I know it depends on what form your insomnia takes, mine is that my brain refuses to realize its bedtime.

  • I am not a belly sleeper - but I am havin trouble sleeping in my back. I already feel like I am 9 months pregnant if I lay on my back for two long. I feel like something is being pinched and it is very uncomfortable. I also feel winded.

  • Me too. Been using a big body pillow to prop me up on my side so I don't roll back to my stomach. It helps and it's cuddly. :)
  • Since the day I found out I was pregnant I stopped sleeping on my stomach and use a body pillow instead.
  • I've been trying to train myself to sleep on my side but I actually find that more uncomfortable some nights than my stomach. My breasts seem to hurt more at the sides than anywhere else. I'm not looking forward to the time when stomach sleeping is not allowed.

  • Thankfully no.  I am enjoying the back and stomach sleeping while I still can.  I dread pulling out the snoogle again.

  • It's only hard for me when I'm kinda in and out of sleep early in the morning and my bladder's really full. Between my growing uterus and big full bladder, it's pretty uncomfortable to lie on my belly.

  • I've never been a belly sleeper but with this baby # 2 it's the only way I can fall asleep. I didn't have pregnancy insomnia with #1.
  • I'm right there with you, OP. I am a stomach sleeper by nature and was able to do so until close to 20 weeks with my first but this time around it is SO uncomfortable.

  • I have always been a stomach sleeper but I am working to train myself to sleep on my side. I bought a Snoogle and it REALLY helps.

  • With my first I slept on my stomach til like 20 weeks. With this one I have been trying really hard to sleep on my side from the beginning but still wake up on my belly. I do feel so much more bloated this time around.
