  • This is my 4th and I look like a road map on my stomach. You'll get over it. It's a part of pregnancy...

  • Haha I've had them since 12 weeks.  Good luck at therapy!

  • I had the same moment with my first, I cried for a day. Lol. They faded a lot and I'm used to them now. Think of them as a badge of honor.

  • I understand how you feel. I don't have them yet but check constantly to see if any have shown up. I keep reminding myself that I am a mom now and stretch marks is just something that comes along with that.

  • None on my belly but my love handles are covered with them & on the sides of my butt :(

I have a couple on my butt.  H sees my butt every day and never mentioned it.  When I finally saw them I asked how long they had been there and why he didn't tell me and he said "Because I didn't notice, and who cares?  You are a mommy now, it happens."  So, obviously he doesn't care - so I don't either :)
    Points awarded to Mr adawn1981.

Thanks!  He did very well with that one :)

Me too! Gotta love them :-)
  • The trade-off is so worth it though. I for one never plan on wearing a two-piece again anyway so bring on the stretch marks.
  • Your a tiger that has earned its stripes. I been having them since baby #1, they lighten up after baby, mines are now clear, it's just something most women get, it comes with being a mother!
  • Really? You should have know there was a chance this was going to happen!?! So we will all be at the community pool in tankinis, get over it. You are going to be a mom, be happy!

  • People are so mean. I have noticed a few changes as well. I completely understand you being upset! It's normal! Your body is going through all kinds of changes... I think once we meet our little nuggets.. Only THEN will it be worth it completely... But as of right now... Totally sucks! Not too much longer to go though. (:
  • Yea it happens, sadly. Some women are just lucky that they don't get them. I got them with my first son and I was 17 at the time, it sucked so bad and haven't been able to wear bikinis ever! I've got them on my tummy, thighs , boobs and calves. But with my other three pregnancies no new ones came. But I got used to them and hubby doesn't care about them. He loves me anyways.
  • I have stretch marks. I have had them before I was pregnant. It is life BTW you can put all the lotion you want but stretch marks are know to be hereditary. I promise you will not need therapy because of it.

Shame on all you meanie's did you not know the bump is al about unicorns that shoot rainbows out of their butts. Sunshine and all that good stuff, your so insensitive :D

All PPs calling them tiger stripes...please for the love stop. I hate that.

    This!

    Seconded.
  • Agreed on the tiger stripes. My husband has them on his cute little butt. Stretch marks...
    Not tiger stripes.
  • I understand how you feel. It's upsetting and that is ok. When I first saw them on my stomach I cried. I had this vision that my body would go back to normal if I put in enough effort. But I will tell you that I've become less upset and am working towards acceptance lol. Out bodies will have a new normal. Grieve as you will. I do believe when the baby comes this will all fade.
  • Just some food for thought - if you read the infertility boards ever single woman there would gladly trade for your stretch marks. You're growing a person, consider it a badge of honor.

  • its not that im not gonna embrace them its just kinda sad to see my stomach like this, specially if all the streching is hurting like crazy... the therapy thing was a joke ...

  • I would be upset if I found stretch marks, give her a break. I hate sciatica, heartburn and the size of my thighs. Doesn't mean I'm not grateful or excited for this baby
  • We all still have until December too. They're only going to get worse.

I don't agree with the OP but give me a break. I suffered from Infertility and had to have treatments to get pregnant. That doesn't mean pregnancy is not annoying, painful, etc.
Exactly.  I don't feel the same way as the OP but she is venting about it on a board where everyone is pregnant.  I could see that being a problem on another board.

To those who are "upset" about stretch marks:

I apparently don't know how to embed a YouTube video.

  • Just wait till they get deep!  You'll be amazed at how they go away and aren't noticeable a few months after delivering
  • Ugh! I'm sorry. I'm scared I'm going to get them. I'm 28 weeks and so far no signs of any. Hopefully it says that way. And don't let others make you feel guilty about being upset. Seriously!! Just because your a mom doesn't mean you need to stop caring about about how you look. Everyone wants to be a sexy mom. So I'm on your side. Drink lots and lots and lots and lots of water. Eat lots of greens (spinach and avocado etc) take fish oil supplements. Limit sugary food. This will help your skin from in inside out which is important. And mix virgin organic coconut (cold pressed) oil in with your palmers lotion. It will help.

Also, you can get them lasered off after pregnancy. (Do that while they are still dark)

    Good luck! :-)

  • Not sure bout the rest of you but when I got pregnant for the first time, I expected to get stretch marks. It just comes with the territory, you're growing a baby and you're going to gain wait and your skin will have to stretch. I've been mostly lucky for the first two and didn't get mass amounts of them: one small one on my stomach, a few on my upper inner thigh and well... my boobs definitely got them. Why are you surprised, knowing that you are pregnant and obviously your midsection is having to grow that you are getting them? I still wore bikinis and no one has really ever even been able to notice the ones that I do have.
