Re: **2IF Grad Check-in**

  • 1. How many weeks? 31 weeks today. cant believe it! We have a tentative c section date: Nov 19.

    2. Any updates? A/S? Etc? I posted last week about the mixed news at our ultrasound. The Neurosurgeon called this morning. Apparently the sac size can flucuate. they did say they wont really know the extent of his issue until he is born. But there a lot things in his favor. we are delivering at a great place. we met the Neonatologist team last week. They have a plan all mapped out for our little guy. Honestly I am rough time emotionally these days. Dealt with secondary infertility, two miscarriages, now having a baby with issues. I just want a happy ending.

    3. for our 2IF friends any advice/words of wisdom? I had unexplained IF except for my age. DH is great. we did 3 IUIs and while waiting to do IVF we conceived on our own. I think a few things helped: I had low vitamin D which I improved. I was 30 pounds over weight and lost 15. I took DHEA and COG10. I was exercising and eating right. I also took progesterone 3 days after ovulation until day 28 when i would test. My progesterone always looked fine on tests but Id spot 7dpo until period came. My RE felt this would stabilize lining. did it for a couple cycles and got pregnant.

    4. QOTW:  besides pregnancy stuff what is something fun in your life right now? we moved to CA in march and it is fun exploring our new area. Im starting to meet some new friends.

  • 1. How many weeks?  36 w 4 d

    2. Any updates? A/S? Etc?  Based on our last scan (at 36 weeks) we have a big baby growing here.  His weight was estimated at 8 lbs (+/- 1 lb).  No, I do not have GD, as a matter of fact, I am having trouble maintaining my blood glucose, so I have to sort of frequently and I drink a lot of OJ.  Because of various other medical issues (I have been high risk this whole pregnancy), we were already planning on an induction between 37 - 39 weeks.  I am hoping this is going to happen before the 38 week mark, because I would really like to try a vag delivery.  Meanwhile, I wish I would just go into labor so we wouldn't have to worry about when to do the induction!

    3. for our 2IF friends any advice/words of wisdom?  Try not to give up hope, even when things seem bleak.  Or maybe a better idea would be not to give up the belief that you can be happy one way or another, even if the pregnancy that you want so much doesn't happen right away.  Another piece of advice is to look high and low for the best doctor you can find - not necessarily the most famous, expensive clinic, but the doctor who is really willing to tune in to your specific issues.  Esp when it comes to secondary IF, IVF may not be the answer!

    4. QOTW:  besides pregnancy stuff what is something fun in your life right now?  I am relieved to be on medical leave now, because my work is rather physically demanding and stressful.  So I am doing my nesting thing at home and trying to take care of myself physically for the last few weeks of pregnancy.

  • 1. 27 weeks!

    2. As mentioned in a previous post, I failed my 1 hr glucose test. Taking the 3 hr tomorrow. Ugh! Also, getting very freaked out about movement. My guys have been very sporadic with their movements. I'll have 2 days where they are super active, but then go a few with not much at all. I just can't imagine that in a few days at 28 wks that they will be moving "enough" as far as kick counts go. So maybe this is the norm for this pregnancy.... Either way I'm freaking out!!

    3. I would say to let yourself be sad when you need to be sad. Whether its a bfn or a loss or whatever. But, also allow yourself to have hope. Without hope the journey seems impossible, but it IS possible! I also agree with dahlia about finding a great doctor. My RE was simply amazing. I legitimately miss him! Although, I'd be completely fine with never seeing his face again! Lol.

    4. Not much going on here other than pregnancy! Lol. I live a boring life. :). Although, we did get the main areas of the house repainted and the bedrooms recarpeted this weekend. So yay! Now I don't have anything else to focus on but baby related stuff. :)
TTC #3 (#1 for DH) since September 2011. DX: Unexplained infertility with possible cervical factor. Transferred 1 beautiful embryo and 5 made it to freeze. Got my BFP! January 2013 u/s showed empty gestational sac. • 1. How many weeks? 23

    2. Any updates? A/S? Etc? Have another u/s this week...hoping baby girl cooperates and shows her face. Then get to do the glucose test the week following...yuck!

    3. for our 2IF friends any advice/words of wisdom? For anyone who does not have a diagnosis yet, trust your gut. If you think something is off with either you or your spouse, chances are you are right. After switching doctors it still took me over a year to convince him to do a lap and that the pain I was experiencing was not normal. Knowing what I know now I would have pushed for that a lot sooner. Be your own advocate, don't give up and keep the faith!

    4. QOTW:  besides pregnancy stuff what is something fun in your life right now? Nothing exciting in our house either. Getting into a very busy time of year for me at work with several work trips coming up in the next few weeks....not exactly what I'd call "fun" but pretty much ruling my life right now.

  • 1. How many weeks? 9 weeks (1 day)

    2. Any updates? A/S? Etc? I went back to work yesterday, have had on/off light spotting, and one SCH is gone. The other 2 are smaller. Tomorrow may be my last appointment with my incredible RE before she sends me off to the OB. I'm looking for a new one as we recently moved and I don't want to sit in horrible traffic trying to get to her office.

    3. for our 2IF friends any advice/words of wisdom? To be honest, I'm so newly pregnant, that the sting of 2IF is still so fresh in my mind. I'm not sure anything I can say could be seen as helpful, but I'll try to give it a shot. I remember feeling so alone and so stuck, not knowing if I would ever be able to get pregnant again. It was a long 2-year road (and I know some journey for much longer), but now that I'm pregnant, I see that time as a journey I had to make to become the person I am today. I'm stronger, more appreciative of the smaller things, and more understanding of people in general. Never lose faith in yourself and in your body. Never stop believing in yourself.

    4. QOTW:  besides pregnancy stuff what is something fun in your life right now?  I guess I'm easily amused, but I am so excited that the house is decorated ready for Fall/Halloween/Thanksgiving. This time of year always makes me feel so happy. (Just wish the CA weather would start cooperating!) That's about the extent of exciting times in my life right now. How sad!

    31 weeks!

    2. Any updates? A/S? Etc?
Had a growth sono done yesterday and baby is 4lb 6oz in the 64th percentile so looks like i'm gonna have another 9 pounder.  So happy it's a scheduled c-section this time!! (nov 25th!!).  They want me to come for weekly growth sono's now because the baby is measuring big.

    3. for our 2IF friends any advice/words of wisdom?
Don't lose hope!  I know how hard it is and i remember how hopeless i felt through the entire process.  I was unexplained infertility and it was so difficult not having any answers as to why i could not get pregnant again.  Also I can't stress enough that if you are unhappy with your RE and their plan please please please don't wait to get a second opinion.  I used to leave my 1st RE office in tears all the time and felt they were never really looking for the issue.  When i finally went to another RE i was so much happier and had a much better experience!

    4. QOTW:  besides pregnancy stuff what is something fun in your life right now?
I love this time of year!  Me DH and DS have been having so much fun decorating the house for halloween!! and we went apple picking this past weekend and have been making so many yummy recipes with apples this week!!

  • Hello,

I am 24 weeks tomorrow. I have my ob visit tomorrow. I will have to take again the glucose test, which I already took and passed at 16 weeks. I have an high risk ultrasound next Monday and hope that it all goes well. I also have to go for a cardio ultrasound in the middle of the month.

Advice for ladies in 2IF. Be as healthy as you can. I think my cycle took when I followed better diet, took vitamins and eat the pineapple core and so on. I think every small effort helps. I also had bed rest after transfer not per doctor, but I figured it cannot hurt.

My DH has been without a job now for 6 months and it has been very hard. We are running our of money and I been stay at home for 2 years now. I cannot go back to work, being pregnant, so we are hoping he gets a job soon. Wish us luck.

  • 1. How many weeks? 15 weeks
    2. Any updates? A/S? Etc? I have another U/S and appointment with MFM tomorrow. Hopefully babes are all doing well and my cervix is nice and long! Still on modified bedrest.
    3. for our 2IF friends any advice/words of wisdom? Lean on your partner and talk about how you are feeling. I learned from DH that he was probably hurting as much as I was, just kept it buried inside to try to "be strong" for me. I had no idea how hard he was taking each BFN too.
    4. QOTW:  besides pregnancy stuff what is something fun in your life right now? Since I was pulled from work, I gave up DS' s daycare spot, so he started preschool today!

  • 1. How many weeks? 10 weeks.  KK, my due date was adjusted to 4/26 if you want to update it.

    2. Any updates? A/S? Etc?  Keep having a tiny amount of blood in my discharge (just a little string of red here and there).  I've had two ultrasounds since it started, and all seemed to be well.  But I really wish it would go away.  It's making me nervous.  Otherwise, nothing new other than my morning sickness is finally letting up a little bit.

    3. for our 2IF friends any advice/words of wisdom?  The only thing I can really think of is that I don't think it helped me at all that I got so hyperfocused on my situation.  I googled stuff constantly, and really obsessed for a while over our infertility issues.  It really began to define me, and I think it made me more depressed over it.  When I finally reached the point of letting it all go, I had the hugest sense of relief to just give myself permission to not obsess anymore.  It was really cathartic.  Of course, then I ended up getting a surprise pregnancy a month later, which was kind of a shock after letting it all go.  But seriously, it felt great to give myself permission to just quit obsessing over it.  I felt like a new person.  Not to say I'm suggesting anyone should just give up, but just that it sure felt great for me to give myself a break!

    4. QOTW:  besides pregnancy stuff what is something fun in your life right now?  It isn't fun yet, but we are in the process of having our basement finished, and it will be so nice to have a bedroom/bathroom down there for my parents when they come visit, and a little rec room/playroom for the kiddos!  We are super excited about it, or at least we will be when it's done.

    Me: 42. DH: 46.

    1st Pregnancy: MC, 11/19/00.

    2nd Pregnancy: DS born 04/10/06.

    3rd Pregnancy: CP, 03/11.

4th Pregnancy: MMC, D&C 11/30/11, Genetic testing revealed Trisomy 4.

5th Pregnancy: Ectopic, 2 doses of Methotrexate unsuccessful, surgery 4/10/12, right tube removed.

Tried Letrozole January 2013-July 2013 (including 2 IUIs), all BFN.  After 2 1/2 years of trying for child #2, decided to "give up" after July cycle, based on AMA.

August 16, 2013:  BFP our first month of "not trying!"  Still in shock.  Beta #1 (14dpo): 183.  Beta #2 (17dpo):  611.  Ultrasound 8/30/13: baby measured 6 weeks, 1 day, heart rate of 118 bpm!
Ultrasound 9/13/13:  8 weeks, heart rate of 176!
    Baby is due 4/26/14
