Christmas trees and curious toddlers

We did not get a tree last year because we were simply too busy. This year, want to go all out for Charlotte's first Christmas as a toddler who is actually participatory. We definitely want a tree! In an ideal world, I could teach her to leave it alone. This won't happen.

What are your creative solutions for keeping a busy little explorer from the ornaments, water, and presents?

Right now, I am thinking of putting the tree against a wall and surrounding it on three sides with a play yard baby gate.

  • I always tie mine to the window so the cats couldn't knock it over. So we will do that again and I have collected unbreakable ornaments over the years so we will just put those on again until she learns not to touch it.

  • I never thought to tie my tree down. Amir's personality is allot more explorative than Nene's....hrm...good queston. Besides keeping ornaments pdf the bottom level, nothing much. Its fake so no choking hazard. I'm more worried about him roping open presents before hand

  • Ours will go in that mess of a gated area. Don't judge my baby's mess. I am going to clean up right after this bowl of ice cream.

Good question! We always worried about the cats but they never cared at all about the christmas tree. Maybe DD will be the same?
