Re: TTC Check In

  • Today is my 5th day of Lupron, my 5th/last day of progesterone, and my last day of estrogen until CD2.  Should get a period in the next couple of days, then suppression check, then hopefully all goes smoothly with the FET.

QOTW: When I am buying picture books for baby showers (I'm a former English major/former writing student and teacher, and current librarian, so there are a LOT of book showers amongst my friends), I tend to go with The Story of Ferdinand by Munro Leaf or Frederick by Leo Lionni.  Both are old favorites I loved as a kid, but I also like the messages now.

  • I am 13 dpiui. I took a hpt yesterday and got a BFN. Started spotting at the same time. I normally have a decent amount if pain even when I spot and that hasn't happened. I'm not temping so I don't know when I actually ovulated. I'm guessing I'm somewhere about 11-13 dpo. I'm hoping that it is implantation bleeding, but I realize it probably isn't. Blood test is scheduled for Thursday unless if course my period starts before, then I will have to do one earlier to confirm no pregnancy before I can start Femara again.

QOTW: I honestly don't remember any picture books from when I was younger, so I don't have a favorite. My mom read to me and with me every night when I was young, I just can't remember any of them.

    Me: 30  DW (aka C): 29

Together since 2/15/11 ~ Legally married in NY on 9/29/12

    ***CP mentioned***

We've been working on baby #1 since July 2013 using Open ID donor sperm.  8 IUI attempts with 5 actual IUIs and one chemical pregnancy.  We have one fresh IVF cycle under our belts as well as a FET.  I have endometriosis and a uterine septum that was corrected via surgery in November 2013.

11/14/14 -  Second HSG shows that tubes are still clear and ute is looking good.

12/6/14 - Started BCPs in prep for IVF #2

12/22/14 - Saline u/s and endometrial scratch (All was clear and OUCH!)

    1/2/15 - Began stimming for IVF #2

     ****All Welcome!****

We are Mommas to four fur babies - 3 dogs and 1 cat.

  • Today is CD 4 for me. We didn't even need to test this month because my body decided that it would experience its shortest LP in a year. 11 days. Fun.

Last month was a disappointment with the bfn. This month I have struggled to get through. I have an appointment with my acupuncturist today. I'm going to bring her my charts and such, as she does specialize in fertility. After that, I will assess whether or not I think we should see an RE. Part of me wants to bite the bullet and get some blood work done, and another part of me says it is still early.

DW and I are leaving tomorrow (our anniversary) for a week. We're looking forward to getting away and enjoying each other.

QOTW: I have no favorites! I do not have any memory of my parents ever reading to me. I am a huge book nerd now, though :)

TTC our first. Married to, and madly in love with, my beautiful wife. Living with our fur baby and enjoying 19 nieces and nephews.

  • I am on CD1 :-(  I just started my period last night. I had taken a HPT on Friday and it was negative so I was expecting AF yesterday or today.  I don't think I took it as hard this month as last month.  Though Saturday my sister and I got into a little argument and I ended up sobbing crying for probably 30 minutes.  I am not usually a cryer but I have my moments I guess.

QOTD: I don't remember my parents reading to me a lot.  I do remember one of my favorite books as a kid was Where the Sidewalk Ends.

  • I'm sad to report FET #2 appears to be a BFN. I'd estimate 80-90% of POAS'ers get a BFP 5 days after a 5-day embryo transfer. Both of our other two attempts, this was true for me too. I held out a little hope since it was frozen and they can be late implanters, but FMU on day 7 said BFN, so it's pretty much over. I am so glad I tested and had the weekend to process, a BFN beta in the middle of a crazy work day with my whole team in town for all day meeting would've been awful.

I've actually never experienced a BFN. Because my tubes were trashed, we never did an IUI and paid the big'ole bucks for an egg donor on top of IVF in hopes of a healthy take-home baby. This is super disappointing, and we only have one embryo left, which is the least in quality. We had 4 embryos which meant 4 tries. We're down to one shot left.

The only upside is I may be cycling with ball.and.chain! And, well, a BFN is hard, but for me, it doesn't compare to my second tri loss. I'd rather this happen than experience another loss. FWIW.

qotw: I honestly don't remember any specific kid books, except Dr. Suess and Winnie the Pooh and stuff like that.

  • Big hugs to you, @2MamazInSeattle... I was rooting for you, and I'm so sorry it didn't work this time.  This plain sucks :( and sorry, too, @trisholio for your BFN.

I just finished my last Provera pill on Saturday so now I'm just waiting for AF.  I forgot my pain medicine at home and I came to work with C and she has the car/house keys so I'll be SOL if I start cramping.  Though so far I'm feeling okay so I think I'll be able to get through the day even if the cramps start now.

After AF starts, then I begin my Clomid on CD 3.  I'm excited to try it :) I think it'll work well for me because my plumbing is good otherwise.  I am a little worried about taking 150 mg on my first go-round but my RE is the expert so I'll trust her.

I've got my Circle + Bloom program so I'll start that when AF comes, and I'm going to try the pineapple trick.  Why not?  Couldn't do any harm.

My only worry right now is my very much anticipated beer festival on 10/19.  It's literally one of my favorite days of the year and I don't know if I'll be able to enjoy it.  Time will tell, I suppose.  I know blood streams aren't connected early in pregnancy (should I be lucky enough to get pregnant this next cycle) but I don't want to do anything to jeopardize our chances... Sigh.  Well, at least that means another day at the spa for me if I can't enjoy the festival with C and our friends.

  • Today is day 11 in my tww. I took a test last night and it was negitive but I am still waiting. Keeping our fingers crossed that AF doesn't show up.

My favorite book as a child was The Celery Stalks at Midight. Great book that I now have my ten year old niece reading.
  • @2mamazinseattle I am so sorry to hear that! Argh! Infertility is so unfair...

We are, um - 7dpiui (I think) - we have our beta on Saturday morning. I am on progesterone twice a day and we have been moving this week so my mind is definitely on other things - which is nice! I will probably POAS Thursday or Friday I think - depending on how the week goes.

QOTW: I loved so many books! My favs are the Dennis Leary books for kids, as well as the Robert Munsch books :)

  • @2mamaz - I am so sorry, my friend. I want to be optimistic and say maybe it is just too early, but I also know it is annoying for someone to be clinging to hope for you when you have already processed and moved on yourself. Not sure if that adequately describes the situation... but just wanted you to know that I am not done being hopeful for you over here! Thinking of you and J. Hugs!

  • Finally got a hold of my surgeon's secretary to confirm my laparoscopy date and asked about my pre-op appointment, as it's supposed be 2-3 weeks before the surgery... but all she said is that "someone will call" me with the pre-op appt time. Um, I sure hope so because clock's ticking. Surgery is on Oct 11!

  • Update: I had a wonderful appointment today with my acupuncturist. She looked at all of my charts and we had a very deep conversation about what steps we should take next. First, she did agree that seeing an RE is a good idea so we can get some numbers. She is very confident that she doesn't need to see the numbers (as a Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioner) but believes it would help to put my mind at ease. She was very honest in that she would only want me to see an RE who would be willing to have open dialog and communication with my acupuncturist. I agree with that wholeheartedly.

She also believes that DW and I should take a month or so off from ttc so that she can continue a line of treatment that is more aggressive than what she could do if I was actively ttc. DW is on duty today, so we will have a discussion and see what we come up with. Part of me is okay with waiting, but the other part wants to continue trying.

There was much more discussed today and I came away from my appointment really feeling like I had a very strong support system in my acupuncturist. She is just absolutely wonderful and really rooting for us to succeed.

  • @GoaliesWife123 - My RE clinic actually has acupuncture available so they are open to it - lots do, though the medical establishment doesn't necessarily say it makes a difference, they obviously believe it won't hurt. :) I used my own acupuncturist throughout my attempts this year - and she always checks blood pressure and is up to date on the medical things going on too. It's good to have your numbers checked by a picky RE too - they are very specific about things like TSH, blood sugar stuff (I think you said you had PCOS right?) etc. which could give you good info!

Back in the day when I was charting for IUI before we found out we couldn't do it, I discovered via my chart that my thyroid was off (40+ day cycles, low temps). My doc said "you absolutely could never have gotten pregnant." And to think of the money we might have wasted waiting 'the year.'  Not to mention the stress.

Glad you had a good visit!

This is good to know. It's not something I would have thought about at all, yet my cycles are full of low temps and vary from 30-42 days. Thank you for your insight!!

  • Well let's see. I'm a basket case!!! Lol. S is way more stress free this time than me. I'm so anxious I can't take it. We are now 10dpiui. We triggered this time with 3 follicles and 2 vials of sperm since we found out last month that our donor had horrible mobility (17%). We got lucky and both vials looked much better. Hopefully it was just a bad thaw last month. I'm driving S nuts to test now but she doesn't want to until Friday morning. I'm fearful to see the BFN. We leave for wv to spend the weekend with our families. Her parents are on board, but my mom isn't. So if it's a BFP my mom won't really want to talk about it. If it's a BFN, I'm afraid being around my sister and her kids will be hard. Just wanting the time to process. I guess that's what the 6.5 hr car ride will be for.

Fingers are crossed but I'm going absolutely crazy!!!

  • After over a year of research I had my first IUI this past Thursday 9/26 and am officially in my first TWW.  The IUI was weird, didn't know if I should stay for awhile with my legs up of if I could leave right after.  Now I am waiting to go in and have a blood test on 10/10.  I am going to try not to test before then, we will see how strong I am when it gets closer to the tenth.

  • @GoaliesWife123, I agree with 2Mamaz -- can't hurt to get some tests run!  If all looks good, you can always go back to home ICIs.  But if things are a little off, you'll have the information you need to decide how to proceed.

  • This is a craptastic week on the TTC checkin! So many BFNs. My thoughts are with all of you who got negatives. I'm especially sad for @2mamaz! You deserve a pregnancy so much! I know that's not how things work but I just want you to know I think this is outrageously unfair!

M gave our check-in. We are 8 days post the first IUI and 7 post the second.

    QOTW:
The Big Orange Splot and Blueberries for Sal.
    ****loss discussed*****

We're queer. I'm 33, have severe stage 4 endo, and had both fallopian tubes removed. My love ("Manada" on the boards, 32) was diagnosed with diminished ovarian reserve. We did Partner IVF (my eggs, her uterus). We lost our twins Tavin and Casey at 21 weeks gestation.

    Our IUIs
with @Manada: IUI# 1-7 (December 2012- September 2013) all BFN. Tried natural, femara, clomid, puregon/follistim, clomid and menopur combo, both the ovidrel and HCG triggers.

    Our IVFs:
IVF #1 my eggs November/December 2013: Cancelled IVF due to poor response

    IVF #2 my eggs/Manada's uterus January/February 2014
BCPs and lupron overlap Stimmed: 1/22-2/2: Bravelle and Menopur (dosage ranged from B300 and M150 to B375 and M150 to B300 and M225)
2/4 retrieved 10 eggs. Endo was much worse than expected. Only 3 eggs fertilized; February 7 transferred two day 3 embryos, froze one. All great condition.
    BFP eve of 6dp3dt; Beta 1 (11dp3dt): 110; Beta 2 (13dp3dt): 175; Beta 3 (15dp3dt): 348; Beta 4 (19dp3dt): 2222; Beta 5 (21dp3dt): 4255
    1st ultrasound (3/6  6w 1d): TWINS!!!! Twin A measuring 6w1d with a heartbeat of 118bpm. Twin B measuring 6w0d with a heartbeat of 113bpm.

***July 18, 2014 we lost our beautiful babies at 21 weeks gestation. They were born too early. Tavin Sara T. and Casey Elizabeth T. are beautiful and precious and we will love them and miss them forever.***

    FET #1 December 2014
Intralipid infusion on Dec 10. Transfer of 1 day 3 nine-cell embryo into my uterus on Dec. 19. (acupuncture immediately before and after)
    BFP on Dec. 27; Beta 1 Jan 2 (14dp3dt): 665, Beta 2 Jan 4 (16dp3dt): 1859, Beta 3 Jan 6 (18dp3dt): 4449, Beta 4 Jan 10 (22dp3dt): 12,251.
