Guillaine Barre

I know this is probably a shot in the dark, but are there any other survivors of Guillaine barre syndrome?

Re: Guillaine Barre

  • My brother actually had it about 4 years ago and is fine now. I am sorry you had to go through that! It is not easy, to say the least. Will it have any affect on your pregnancy?

  • It has been two years. It shouldn't have any affect. My back is really hurting today, so of course I automatically think the worse. Some doctors say you should avoid an epidural. Mine doesn't seem to think it will be a problem, but I'd rather not anyway.

  • I've never posted on here before, but this thread caught my attention.  I had guillain-barre when I was four years old (before they used plasmapheresis for kids).  Spent a few weeks in the ICU but have fully recovered.  Other than not getting a flu shot, I haven't thought about it in relation to being pregnant - your post makes me wonder if I should?
  • My ob doesn't seem to think there will be any complications.
  • Thanks - I may ask about it at my next appointment as well, just to see.
