any last minute advice or wisdom?

Going to start trying to cut out one of the 2 night time feedings tonight. I know she doesn't need it, gets more than enough during the day. Sleep is more important for her then the habit of eating... plan on trying to rock her thru it and hoping she will just go back to sleep for a while. Will not take a pacifier so it might be a rough night.
Any advice or words of wisdom?

Re: any last minute advice or wisdom?

  • If you feel like it is the best for her and your family, stick through with what you feel is right and do not worry what people say about it.

My advice is to try and give her a pacifier (if she takes one) when she gets fussy while you are rocking her back to sleep.

  • We just did it and she did fine. She still wakes and whimpers fussy a couple minutes and then goes back to sleep. If you are nursing I suggest sending DH in to pacify/soothe LO for at least the first few nights

  • Glad to hear that yalls went well! I am not nursing so that should help, we usually split the night shifts so she is used to us both going in... hoping for a few day transition instead of a few weeks!
  • I agree with having H do it, but I nurse DS so if I try to sooth him he just gets pissed!

Hope it goes well for you!

welll... its actually going OK. Started Friday night, she woke up at midnight where I would usually feed her 4 oz's - I let her cry for a few minutes, then went in to rock her back to sleep. She went BANANAS when she realized she wasn't getting fed... didn't know she had quite the fight in her, haha-- got her back to sleep, laid her down and instantly awake going bananas again, sooo I gave in and fed her 2 ozs. back to sleep and normal 3am feed, which i also cut in half. - Same senario for Saturday night. Then Sunday night she stirred at midnight, then conked back out and up at 3-- thats 7 hours! She had never slept that long. And the same case with last night... soooo I am hoping and praying maybe this is a glimmer of hope! At least i know for sure she can go at least 7 hours so the midnight feed will not happen anymore! Thanks for the advice guys! fingers crossed this keeps up!
  • Thank you! FTM here so any advice is wanted!! I have tried the dream feeds and they haven't really worked so far. I honestly think it is just the habit of waking up. However I have not tried them in about a month, so maybe once I can get her to drop the 1st feeding, maybe a dream feed will top her off till morning and nix the 3am one as well! Anywho, thanks again! :)
