Lets talk spit up

What do you do when LO spits up literally everything he just ate, then immediately wants to nurse? This happens at least once a day for the last few days. -.-

Re: Lets talk spit up

  • This happened to us for the first time yesterday :/ I nursed her and I was exhausted

  • We've been playing this game too.

And at this point in time,  I don't really know what to do about it other than clean up and give her more to eat, followed by trying to keep her upright longer.  I try to burp LO after every feeding, but she only actually burps about 60% of the time.

Also, anyone have any tips on dealing with the lovely scent of spit up in LO's neck folds?  I wipe her down and use a mild soap (and then rinse that off), but the smell is still there.

Could it be the soap you are using? We use Eucerine Aquaphor and I've never had issues with neck smells with either of my kids. And their spit up smelled terrible. Or could baby possibly have yeast growing there? Hope that helps.

I just use a tiny tiny tiny amount of baby oil mixed in a bowl with water. Wet a wash cloth, ring out, wipe baby.

  • Keep him upright 15 to 30 minutes after eating, burp as often as possible. Don't bounce him. Take breaks during feelings so it has a little time to start to settle before you finish.

  • We have to be really careful to keep LO sitting up after she eats, a minimum of 15 minutes. If she does spit up and is looking hungry again, I wait about 5 minutes and then re-feed.
