Pretzelchick and rMe

I saw in the crib post that you're both planning to transition your LOs out of the crib so you can use it for your new babies.  Our baby #2 is due the first week of February, but I was just planning to get another crib since DD will be under 18 months.  Now I'm rethinking that.  How did you decide to move your LOs?  Was it a cost or space issue, or do you think your LOs are ready to move?

    Hijacking this post-
My girls are 15 months apart. We got another crib. DD1 was not ready to be in a toddler bed at that point. But by 20 months she was climbing out so we moved her. You just never know. On the 2u2 board some people have kept #2 in a PNP for a few months to buy some time.
    Hope that helps.

We transitioned dss at 22 months and he was ready. With DD and Lo, we just don't want to spend the money on another crib. I think DD will be ready by 18/19 months. We could leave her in the crib and have lo in the rnp for a while but I was hoping the transition before baby #2 will be easier on dd. This could all change but either way I am NOT purchasing another crib. I don't feel like it is worth the money that we need to spend else where. We also only have 3 bedrooms. Dss and the new lo will share a room so we also have to down size from his queen bed to a day bed for space. So for both kids I want transitioned to their new spaces before the new baby comes and shifts their world around.

It's more cost than space. They'll be sharing a bedroom but literally the only piece furniture in there is the crib (I never bought a dresser or a changing table) so another would fit, but I just don't see the point of spending money on a crib when DS will most likely be transitioning to a toddler bed in another year or two and we already have the PNP, which he's napped in before with no problems. I'd rather fork over $40 on Amazon for a nice PNP mattress than hundreds of dollars for a crib.

Thanks, ladies.  We already have the Graco Lauren for DD, so we're not big crib spenders :)  DD sleeps great in her crib and hasn't shown any signs of trying to climb out yet, but of course that could change in the next few months.  I'm considering getting a crib for DD that converts more easily to a toddler day bed than the Graco Lauren does (like with the half bars on the side).
