My H switched jobs two weeks ago and is back at his old employer. This company has an office in ND and the main office is on the west coast. The office in ND is rather small as they have lost a lot of people. So the company has decided instead of two different insurance plans for the ND people and the home office to have them all on one. I understand their reasoning for that. The new insurance plans takes effect Oct 1. Per the company's benefits, DH is covered from day one of employment. So for two weeks, we would be under the old plan and starting Oct 1 on the new plan. So HR told DH she's enrolling him on both plans, DH says great, make sure it's for family and here is the health provider we use. That was on day three of his job. So fast forward to last week when we figured out I was miscarrying. DH calls the health insurance company to see if the stuff came through and that we are covered before we go in for the ultrasound. Insurance company says we haven't received an application for you. DH upset, calls HR. HR emails the receptionist for DH's office in ND and asks if there is still an application for my DH to fill out if he was at work that day. I guess HR was trying to enroll DH without an application and the insurance company wanted an application. He wasn't at work as he was home with me.
DH just wants to tell his company forget the two week insurance and just pay us what you would have paid for my premium which is essentially just reimbursing us for our medical expenses.
Poor DH, he was really upset with that on Friday. He still is, but it just wasn't a good time dealing with all of that when we were in the process of losing our baby. It was not a good day folks.
