Before I got pregnant I was on the nuva ring and that obviously didn't work for me. One of my SIL's merana failed and she just found out she is 7wks. I wanted to get the merana after this but now am having second thoughts. I never did well on the pills. I tried a few different kinds and they effected my mood. Everyone I know has gained weight on the shot and to be honest with you guys I have been battling body image issues since I was a teen. What about the patch? I picture a band-aid that after you wear it for a few days it gets lint and other misc fibers stuck to the edge of it... I might just end up dealing with that. It sure would be a hell of a lot easier then going through another pregnancy and caring for another child. Any suggestions, thoughts...? I'd ask my DH to get clipped but I may want another child in 5-8 years.

Be careful with the patch as I know of a couple people who have gotten pregnant while on it. It may not stick correctly or may fall off even without you knowing.
I do have a couple of friends with an IUD and they haven't gotten pregnant.

I have always been on the pill and when I got kicked off insurance last March I started charting. I actually used an app on my phone to track my period and it would tell me the days I was most fertile and the day that I was ovulating so DH and I would just avoid that week all together. If we did decided to have sex during that time we would use a condom. This worked for me until I got pregnant in December. The only reason I got pregnant was because I got a new phone and not all the data from the app transferred so I guessed on my last period date and it was off...so DH and I had sex on an ovulation day and I got pregnant. But if you follow it and keep track I would say it should work. Obviously it's not 100% unless you use a condom too but it's another option if you don't want to use any other birth control.
I plan on going back on the pill because I've never had any negative side effects from it and it worked for me. I don't want another baby for a couple years so I figure it's my safest bet.
We didn't use condoms, just abstained when ovulating.
Now knowing how easily I got pregnant...I'm a little nervous to get back into the swing of NFP since
I'm sure it'll be difficult to chart until my hormones are back on track!
Ps- we use sympto-thermal method of NFP...learned in our marriage prep classes as part of the Catholic Church.
Edit for spelling.
I've used fertility awareness method (charting) for years, first as contraception, then while ttc.
I/we haven't decided what our approach will be. FAM may not be an option for a while BC I plan to breastfeed, so maybe condoms, then FAM? Eventually DH plans a vasectomy, but probably not for a few years. I'm considering an iud, but it kind of freaks me out. Hormonal BC isn't an option for me.
