Am I the only one NOT doing this?

I noticed that a lot of mommas to be are planning their social media announcements. While I actively use Instagram and log on to Facebook once in a while I honestly don't imagine myself making the big social media announcement. Please don't think I'm knocking it because I like to see them. I just don't plan on doing one. Am I alone? I should totally make this a poll!

For as many women that post on here, I've seen very few announcements. I think we'll make an announcement, but only after telling our closer friends first. Our announcement probably won't involve a cute picture - just sharing the news.

I'm only doing one because we happen to have family photos In a couple of weeks. I asked our photographer to take one because I thought it would be a nice memory to have since the timing was right. I will share it on FB as our "announcement" o people that don't know.

I'm sharing the news but everyone who matters to us already know. It won't be anything huge just a hey we are having another baby! LOL I guess this is what happens with #3.

We're not doing any kind of fancy announcement about being pregnant, but we will be informing our friends and family who don't already know. We'll simply post some ultrasound pictures, and then when our baby is born we'll announce him to everyone in a fancy way.

i am not doing one either. The people i really want to know will know directly from me in person and the other people on facebook will just find out when they find out because i just dont care too much to tell them. But i will say I LOVE seeing the announcements on facebook and seeing the excitement of peoples reactions. its just not something i plan to do

That's my method of announcement lol. Thanks to my mother I already have people who knew me growing up asking "which one of you is having the baby" (I'm an identical twin who grew up in a small community and my mom is ecstatic)

Since I'm pretty sure my sisters are throwing me a shower my baby's birth announcement cards will also be thank you cards to all the guests that attend.

Not a cute announcement with a photo but I'll do a status update. I hate it when out of state friends suddenly announce they had a baby without me knowing they were expecting. I want to be in the loop so I'm not keeping secrets from them either

I just told my family and close friends. Then i sent out a text message with a picture of the ultrasound picture to everyone i wanted to know. Everyone else will find out through the grape vine.

I guess I can understand that. A few months ago I found out my cousin had a baby the day after he was born. Of course I found out on fb. That day I happened to log on as I barely used Facebook account. Anyway I was super surprised and of course immediately rushed to find a gift online.

I'm definitely not doing the whole social media thing. Maybe when the baby is like 6 months lol I just don't feel like everyone from high school and stuff needs to see my baby . If your close to me friends and family you can see the baby in person

That's kinda how I feel. I mean anybody who NEEDS to know is in the contact list on my phone. Everyone else can find out through word of mouth but I don't see where I absolutely have to announce it online.

I keep up with a lot of people on FB that I don't talk to on the phone or see in person but maybe once a year, so I like to do an update. Plus, there ends up being a decent amount of photos tagged of me at weddings, holidays, etc and I don't want to deal with the inevitable "OMG! I didn't know you were pregnant! When are you due?" comments that would occur if I didn't post an "announcement" (which, we're boring - isn't anything elaborate - more like a status update).

I didn't with my first but this baby has been such a long work in progress and I'm just so excited I can't not share! Plus my family is all over the country along with friends. Most know already but this takes are of anyone I may have forgotten

@AcaAwkward - this my exact situation! Many friends who I don't live close to anymore and see probably once a year. It was just easier for me to put it out there than to call every one of them.

I don't really feel like doing a FB announcement but its the easiest way to make sure the news reaches all my family, which is huge. I have 40 first cousins!!

I feel the same. If I want you to know about my baby, you will know about it before I give birth. If not, I guess you won't. Not to be that guy, but I really just don't see the point/want the attention. Plus it took us 2 years just to get pregnant so being the superstitious being I am, I think I'll wait til they have taken their first breaths.

No big social media announcement for us. Just not our thing. We're telling our friends and family as we speak to them and figure at some point there will be a photo of me posted to fb pregnant and everyone will figure it out.

We don't plan on a big social media announcement either. If people aren't close enough friends for me to tell them in person or via text/email/phone then I don't think they need to know at all!

We aren't doing a Facebook announcement but we do plan on taking a cute announcement photo and sending it out to family and friends as our Christmas card this year.

That is totally cute! I had all these adorable announcements planned for my parents and siblings but it somehow went out the window and it turned into the old fashioned "I'm pregnant". They were excited either way. Lol I hope your family and friends love the Christmas cards

I'm not doing one either, and didn't for my first. I will probably make a short "It's a boy/girl!" post when we find out. By that time, all of our family and friends who we talk to on a regular basis will already know. We don't live near any family and most of our friends are at least a few hours away, but they'll each get an individual text/call/email/Skype/however we typically keep in touch. It just seems so impersonal to me to let good friends find out the same way your old high school classmates you haven't seen in 10 years find out. Just NMS.

I dont' want the "what? you're pregnant?" five months from now. I'll just do a status update so its out there this week sometime. We just told family Friday and gave my mom the go-ahead to blab.

Exactly this! I won't overtly announce it, but my 16-17 week belly will give it away in our family session shots

I was thinking about doing a little video with DD. I'm hoping I can get her to say something like, "I'm going to be a big sister!" She's been a little camera shy lately so I'm hoping she'll be excited enough about the baby to do it. No fancy picture announcement though.

I'm still debating social media. I'm not announcing for another week. (Then I'll be 13 weeks). But we are undecided what that annoucement will be. I think I'll put a little something extra in our Christmas card envelopes this year, tell the people I want to know, and let word of mouth take care of the rest.

I don't think I'll be announcing on FB until my anatomy u/s this time around. All of our family and friends now so I don't think the rest of the people on there need to know right now.

I have gone back and forthon whether to do an announcement but this is where I ended up on the decision as well. I have a fair amount of friends and family in other states and continents and I'd like them to know before seeing any obviously PG pictures or before we announce we actually had the baby. Dh has cousins all over the place too so this is probably the best way to deal with it for his family as well.
