We seem to have inadvertently started official potty training here this weekend. DD has a nasty red bum from a tummy bug shes had for a week so we left her diaper off all day. no accidents while naked. I was pretty surprised. She wore a cloth pull up to church and did wet her pants there (not shocked at all). Now we are going to try again tomorrow, but we have a long drive so I plan on putting her in a diaper for the car ride at least. I guess I have to put her in a diaper for daycare because I feel like they haven't really been given any warning about this and she just started peeing on the potty at daycare on Thursday (she's been going at home for months)...So how did you potty train while your kid was in daycare?
Hallelujah, it's a miracle, I have children AND a signature!
When I potty trained LO, I did if over the week between Christmas and new years when I knew we were able to lay low. I put him in underwear and only used Diego underwear (pull ups) for naps and bedtime. After new years I sent him to daycare In underwear and a bunch of changes of clothes.
I sent a note with him to let the teachers know what we had been up to and they were 100% supportive. Yes he had accidents, but he learned.
We used pull ups so it made it easier to use the potty at home and school. Once the pull ups were more dry then wet at both locations we switched to underwear.
Talk to DC and see what they usually do, mine (kindercare) has been fabulous about putting her on the potty at every diaper change to just get her used to the idea. We are still in diapers but she pees on the potty regularly and even pooped on the potty yesterday!! Sorry, this was kind of braggy, my point is, talk to DC and figure out a plan with them. Hopefully they will assist you with it, but if not you might have to wait til a break so you can get DD off to a good start!!
I agree with PP, talk to your LO's teachers. I can't see how old your LO is, but starting from 2 at our center, they're not even allowed to wear diapers anymore, only Pull-Ups or underwear. Potty training is something they work on daily. So while it might seem to you like you're springing this on them, chances are they're equipped to deal with this given the age group they work with.

A is 20months and our daycare doesn't have a cut off date with diapers unfortunately. I have two weeks then I get a week off work. She will not be I diapers after that week, but I think until then I will just ask that they take her to the potty regularly and she'll go naked/cloth pull up at home. Thanks for the replies.

yeah for sure talk to daycare, ask them what they would prefer.
I forgot to mention that in my first post, before even starting I had a conversation with daycare about what method to use. They recommended just going to underwear and skipping pull ups. Since they were on board, I was too.
Also 20 months is still pretty young, she may take to it, she may not. Just be patient and see what happens.
