Please let this last!

Well it's my fourth morning in the hospital due to my c section and, let me tell you, this baby can sleep! Because of the breast feeding issues due to jax's cleft palate, I've been letting the nurses give him one feeding at night and I give him the rest...just for me to get a little rest and let my body heal a bit before I go home. Well, hells bells, all three nights he has only woken up for one feeding and they have been bringing him in around 5:30 am for another. Wtf? Are they drugging him or something? I'm counting my blessings because as soon as I get home I know the little stinker will start waking up more often lol. Just had to share my shock and amazement.

  • Glad you are getting some rest. Are you sure they are only doing 1 feeding? NB should eat every 2-3 hours. At this point they should be woken up to eat.

  • He did only get one...his last I give him is around 11 and they have been waking him up around 2 and I've been getting him back around 5-5:30 so I'm ok with that. He's awake most of the day...eating great. I'm thinking it's the formula. With my breast milk my girls were up every hour and a half to two hrs. Jax has been getting colostrum and formula due to feeding issues and it seems to be filling him up longer...not something I'm used to lol.
  • Okay. For some reason the times did not process that they were about 3 hours apart.

  • It probably won't, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't soak it up while it does!  Get healed up and rest as much as you can.  Do you go home soon?

Yeah I guess I should have stated what time the nursery took him lol. Still...I consider that stellar compared to my first two. I'm just thankful for the little extra sleep. Life really begins today when I go home!
  • I learned the other night that ff babies don't need to be fed as often. So it does make a difference.

  • I was surprised on our first night at the hospital with how long DS slept too. I had a c-section so I was totally out of it so we used the nursery for the first night. I fed him before DH took him in there and they didn't wake me up to feed him for like 9 hours, I woke up and thought something was wrong or they switched and new nurses didn't know he's a breastfed baby, turns out he just slept lol
  • Newborns sleep a lot the first week or so. It most likely won't last so take advantage of it now!
