Scary thing happened earlier today.
DS has been having almost runny bowel movements lately and more frequently that when he first started on solids. I blamed it on me being pregnant and my breast milk changing. I've read it can affect the baby currently feeding.
Today, on his third bowel movement I opened his diaper to liquid poo and a 2 inch piece of bowel. Needless to say, I FrEaKeD!!
It retracted within about 10 minutes, but you should have heard the kid screaming until it did. As soon as it retracted, he was a happy camper again.
I'll be making an appointment to see his doc on Monday. I am hoping it doesn't happen again, but I'd like to talk to the doc anyway.
Anyone else had this happen? What did the doc do, if anything?
Re: Bowel prolapse
I love how calm you seem in this thread while I am pretty sure you were not so calm in the moment! I am pretty sure I would been all over crazy and I am usually a pretty calm individual.. when the baby has blood coming out of her eye at 3 months I was all.. hmmm well ok she seems to be ok with this lets just see what happens... but organs coming out of the body... um wow
Do your insurance have a nurse line? I know some do, you might want to check and see for future emergencies.
I forgot insurances even do that. I'll have to check.
I'm beginning to think it is constipation like several of you have suggested.
His stools were normal a week ago, then slowly changed to (the last 2) were liquid. He has lots of belly gurgles, passing some awful smelling gas, and been up 3 times tonight.
I realized grandma discovered Baby Mum Mums. Banana flavour.
Not sure, but after googling, several people seem to think those thing constipated their babies. Grandma had a box upon arrival Sunday at my house. I just found out tonight that she said she ran out of them on Tuesday. I'm guessing he at a whole box of then.
She really doesn't know the meaning of "in moderation". He doesn't eat rice cereal so I don't know if that would have stopped him up or not.
She was thrilled that he liked them, so I'm sure that's why she gave them to him so much.
Thankfully I can control what he's eating for the next several days.
I'll keep everyone posted.
Hopefully some fruit can get your LO's bowels back to normal if he is constipated. FX for you.
So it (the rectal prolapse) hasn't happened again.
The doc thinks the prolapse was a one time thing.
He wasn't me to let him know if it happens again, which of course I would.
N's bowel movements are less runny again and less smelly. (Omg, I could barely change his diaper outside!!! And it's starting to get cool out. Lol)
Thanks for thinking of us ladies.
