Epidural Pain

Does anyone still have pain from the epidural? My back hurts a lot at the site and I didn't even feel it when she gave it to me. Thoughts?

Re: Epidural Pain

  • How long ago did you have your baby? I had pain for a week or so where I got the epidural. I have heard from some people it hurt longer sometimes when they bent their back weird

  • The pain can last a long while. My first epi it lasted for several months. Then it was just sensitive if someone poked it.

This time it is pain free, but it still feels strange if I apply pressure to it.

  • I'm almost 5 weeks PP. Thanks! Looks like I could be hanging out with it for awhile then.
  • I'm 6 and half weeks pp. I haven't had any pain from it other than the initial prick.

  • I had pretty intense back pain for a few weeks after delivery. I saw a chiropractor a few times and it completely went away.

  • I had an epi leak. Does it hurt all the time or only when you stand up? If it's only when standing, it may be a leak and you need a blood patch to fix it.
  • It's just a constant ache. Hurts when I touch it too.

  • I got a shooting pain in my back a few days PP that brought me to my knees. It lasted a minute and that was it.

  • I get spasms off and on....but no other pain

  • I do, but I have back problems anyway. So its hard to tell if it was from the epi or just my normal crap-tastic spine.

  • I have some pain as well. I have my pp check this week so I was going to ask about it. It hurts if I touch it or bump it. I also had to get the epi twice so I chalked it up to that. I have heard it can last a while and is normal but was going to check to be sure when I go in.

I haven't had any pain, but I've had this crazy itching on my legs. Apparently also a side effect. Awesome.

I hope it eases up soon! Have you called the doc?

  • After my epidural with my son my back was in extreme pain for 2 weeks.

  • Mine ached for the first few weeks, but now it is better. I'd call your doctor if you are concerned.
