Baby shower tips!

I was wondering what you lovely ladies have been doing for your baby showers food wise. Any recipes or suggestions you have? Loving the Carmel apples idea. What about your themes? Thank you for your help! :)

    my dad and mom took care of everything, Im making 7 layer chocolate peanut butter bars, pretzel rods, and a small candy buffet...

    My sisters asked if I wanted anything specific so I just said some of favorite things. They aren't telling me what they are doing though, I'd rather it all be a surprise :)

    They asked me what I was thinking for food. I just told them I didn't want them to go overboard and finger foods are yummy. I did ask if my mom would make this punch I like though.

    I'm helping make some of the finger foods for my Sprinkle because everything falls on my mom because MIL is useless. We're having shrimp cocktail, these yummy pizza balls, Asian salad, spring rolls and guacamole to start then my mom is making a big tray of roasted chicken and potatoes with a tossed salad. Then my girlfriend is making brownies, another is getting the cake, my mom is bringing cream puffs and I'm going to make mini apple pies with vanilla ice cream (super easy to do - thank you Pinterest).

    I know everything about my shower because my mom has the biggest mouth ever and thinks she needs to tell me every detail. It's going to be a delicious brunch with lots of mimosas. And I will be having a mimosa!

    I saw something on Pinterest that was like a fruit salad of diced apples and then you dice up snickers on top. I think.

    I remember seeing lots of snickers salad growing up in the midwest.  It's basically cut up apples, whipped cream and cut up snickers.  Amazing!

    My mother is getting it catered by one of my favorite restaurants. As for everything else I am sort of helping her because she is pretty much planning my sisters wedding . It's at the end if this month and my baby shower is two weeks after the wedding . I didn't want to leave her hanging

    My MIL is throwing a brunch shower for me (next weekend!!) as well! I know I heard a mention of egg casseroles and got really excited :) My friend at work is throwing a "sweet pea" shower for me due to our nickname for LO.

    I told my mom & MIL who are hosting mine to do whatever they want.  :)  My mom did sit down with me one day & ask me about her ideas...sounds like we'll be having lunch, with salad, chicken salad sandwiches (& maybe other kinds too, not sure), & the like.  Then she's having someone make cupcakes, which I'm pretty excited about!  My only specifications were that there had to be some non-chocolate ones since I can't eat chocolate due to my GERD.  I'd say if your host asks & you happen to have ideas, then feel free to share, otherwise just tell them to do their thing!  I'm not picky & really wanted my hosts to feel like they could make all the decisions, so I told them to do whatever they wanted as far as food/time/theme & all that.

    For my shower we had veggie and dip trays, fruit trays, roasted chickens that they sliced for sandwich meat, rolls, cheese trays, cupcakes, lemonade, iced tea, an amazing sangria recipe that had fruit added to the sangria punch bowl. If I had a choice like you, I might do barbecue for food.
