April 2013 Moms

With fall amongst us......

Curious to what you're keeping the temp at in your house. Particularly for those in colder areas.

Ongoing battle over here because on nights when it's not cold, I say 65 with a sleep sack and he continues to turn the heat on to 66 or 67 but that means it doesn't actually shut off until 68 or 69.....

Again on a warmer night, 65 doesn't seem cold to me, but I would like to hear what others are doing

Re: With fall amongst us......

  • We were leaving it a 70, with a long sleeve onsie and a sleep sack. I'm think maybe that's too warm then?

  • The time of year I wish I lived in Ohio still... Here in Florida we are keeping it at 78 ;).

We try to keep our house at 69. Mostly for the older kids who can't keep a blanket on to save their lives. Dd goes to bed in cotton footies and a lightweight blanket.

  • We have nothing turned on...no heat, no air. Just windows, long sleeves, and blankets when needed! It's been about 55 overnight and highs in the 70-80 range! I love it!

this is us too.  At night with the windows open it has gotten down to 65 in the house.  M gets footed pj's and we bedshare, so I think he's warm enough

  • We do not have the heat or A/C is on.  DS's bedroom windows stay closed.  The windows in our bedroom are open at night.  DS's room can be down to 65 by the time he gets up in the morning.

DS sleeps in microfleece PJs, nothing else.

  • Connor sweats like crazy too if he is too hot. It has to be like 65 degrees inside or else the AC has to be on because we bedshare and I am like a furnace (but I do not get hot easily) and he is like a little furnace and he would sweat up a storm.

  • It got down to freezing overnight in MT this last week, we do 65 at night and LO wears socks, footed heavier cotton sleeper, and a Halo fleece sleep sack.  When it gets to full time freezing, we will probably go up to 68.  He runs warm, so far he's fine.

  • I'm in Minnesota -- newer constuction.  Right now, no heat and no A/C -- although yesterday I had to turn the A/C on for a bit (but I run really hot).  In winter... probably set it to 70 or 72 and do a sleep sack with a footed romper beneath!

  • We are in AZ... & AC bill is crazy! We keep it & 78 during the day. &. 77 at night. LO is in cotton footy pj's.... As winter comes we will probably put heater to 70 and maybe add a sleep sac if needed. LO is always hot (like her daddy) but I am always freezing so I am not good at knowing how to dress her or if she is comfortable :(

  • Nights have been in the 50s here. We do windows open in our room and closed in ds and dd's rooms. Ds sleeps in cotton fotted pjs and a halo sleep sack.
In the winter we keep the house at 68.
  • I think ill concede. Reading all these replies made me realize he's not that far off, I think the bigger issue is that I hate being hot when I sleep and I hate paying for oil, buuuuuuttttt its not about me anymore, right?? ;)

  • Also, it depends on your house and the humidity level indoors and outdoors -- I live in brand new construction, and we set the therm to 70...but in my old house (100 years old, one level, 1000 sq ft), 70 was FREEZING... and in my DH's old house, 72 felt ROASTING.  All dependent on insulation, airflow, etc.
