Re-introduction and looking for VBAC moms?

Hello O13 ladies!  I think I made an intro thread back when we first found out, but I haven't posted much since then.  This was a high risk pregnancy and I think I've just felt a bit detached from everything as a defense mechanism.  But....crap's getting real now because my due date is Oct 13!  We have a scheduled c-section for Oct 9, but I am hoping to go into labor before then so that we can try for a VBAC.  DD was born 9/16/12 so I'm grateful that my OB is willing to let me try.  Any other mamas going for VBAC?

  • I am trying for a natural vbac, since my doc will not induce. My doc said that if I went into labor on my own and was progressing, that he would let me try. If nothing happens my c-section is scheduled for the 16th.

I'm hoping for a VBAC. My practice has an 85% success rate for VBACs and are very supportive. Even if I'm not successful, I'm happy just to know I'll be giving a decent shot at being successful. I'm surprised you guys are trying for VBACs but already have csections scheduled. I think I'd feel a lot of pressure if I knew I had deadline to go into labor my due date. Eta- I just realized you both said you were high risk I'm guessing that's the reason you had to go ahead and schedule. I've been really lucky to have an uneventful pregnancy.

  • My doc won't let me go over my due date and really isn't happy I want to try a vba2c. But he compromised and said if I went on my own we'd see how it went. I will be 39w5d at my c-section. But he's refused to induce. So here I am.

  • My doctor also will not induce and doesn't want me to go past my due date. My pregnancy was high risk early on, but now the risk is primarily that I've had less than 13 months between births so there's concern about healing duration.  He feels comfortable enough to try it, but doesn't want to put too much strain on my body by passing my due date and then trying TOLAC.  It's a ton of pressure because I desperately want to avoid a repeat, but I also want to live, keep my baby safe, and keep my uterus. :)  I'm just glad that he'll let me go for it at all!

  • I'm also going for a VBAC.. I'm due 10/14 and have not scheduled a CS yet - they said they will let me go a little over before scheduling one. They are supportive, although the reason for my CS was failure to progress and every time it comes up they make a face as if they don't think I'm a good candidate.. But, I really just want to give my body the chance to try to labor on it's own (I'm convinced I went to the hospital prematurely last time and she wasn't ready to come out). We also discussed time limits on labor - last time I was at the hospital for 12 hours, only dilated to 2cm, and ended up with a CS. This time, if a few hours go by at the hospital with zero progress, I will just assume my body doesn't want to dilate again and let them do a CS.

  • I'm trying for a VBA2C. I've had a very uneventful pregnancy but don't have a history of going into labor on my own. Due 10/14 but am allowed to go two weeks over before they will make me induce or schedule a RCS. Trying to be patient this time and let my body do what it needs to do. It's only been 16 months since my last delivery but my midwives and doctor are not concerned by this which makes me feel a bit better. Here's to hoping we all get the deliveries we want this time around! :)
  • Welcome back and good luck! I'm going for a VBAC...due date is Oct 17 and induction/rcs scheduled for Oct 22 if I don't go into labor on my own before then (he will only induce if my cervix is favorable).

  • I havent posted much either, but I am due 10/14 and trying for a VBAC. I have a c-sec scheduled for 2 days later, 10/16 if nothing happens by then. Last appointment I was super soft but only 1/2 cm dilated. I did not have them check this time, but we will check next appointment and see. I have been having tons of contractions so I hope that means my body is getting ready! My practice is very supportive of VBAC but they will not induce and do not want you to go too far past your due date. I started to go into labor with DS1 at 40+2 which was when they started induction because my contractions were not close enough together but then he went into distress and wound up have the cord wrapped around his neck. I only dilated to a 3-4 but I am hopeful that I could have gone all the way if DS did not go into distress. Here's hoping we all get our VBACs!

I'm in the same boat, my OB won't induce but said if I go in on my own we'll do a VBAC. My c-section is for the 5th and I don't see anything happening before then though :(
  • Also considered high risk. I'm trying VBAC too EDD is on the Oct 8th but my Dr. hasn't even talked about setting a RCS date yet. He's actually talked more about if I go over my due date natural means of induction. Who know every Dr. is different. Hope your VBAC goes well and you can avoid RCS

Very much so, they encourage vbacs and talk mostly about the risks of a second c section being worse then the vbac risks. They will even do some augmenting of labor. They already offered a membrane sweep at 39weeks. They do require an epidural incase of emergency but thats about it.

  • I am trying for a VBAC. My OB won't induce either, but is OK with sweeping membranes and breaking waters if I come in contracting and dilated. They allowed me to schedule my RCS for October 30, and I'll be 41w5d. I am praying to go well before then and we're pulling out all the natural stops (sex, EPO, RRL tea, Miles circuit) after this week.

  • How awesome to find all these VBAC mamas!!! I hear so many stories about people doing RCS that I really thought I was alone!

  • I was also hoping for a VBAC but my hope is fading. My RCS is schedule for Oct 1 (I'm high risk) and so far...nothing. Plus they are worried about the size of baby....three weeks ago she was almost 9 pounds,...of course those can be off - but still....I guess I'm playing it safe...so I'm not as optimistic anymore
