XP: Name help?

DH and I can't freakin' decide.  We're probably going to have to see him before we name him, but our list keeps getting shorter and then longer, and then we change it completely, and bleh.  So I'm looking for some input/opinions since my brain is deft name-fried.

Here's the low down:  I'm having a boy, we currently have a Jackson who we call Jack, and we love nicknames.  Here's the list that we are currently considering:

Ronan  - DH's favorite, means little seal which I'm not crazy about
Locke - Kind of a GP name for me, but I love that it is Old German and has a strong meaning
Linus - We both love this but are concerned about the charlie brown reference, as well as some people associating it with 'anus' ugh!
Nicholas - We like the nn Nico, but aren't in love with the name.
Logan - DS insists this is his baby brother's name.  I have always liked it, but feel like it's kind of meh now.
Boden - Another GP name, we really like the nn Bodie, but most everyone else hates it.

Thanks for the input, good or bad. ;)
I used to be a big deal.  Now I'm just old.

  • My DD has a friend at school named Nicolai, nn Nico... might be another option for you. I like Logan the most. Locke will always be Lost for me. Bodie makes me think of the Olympic skier-- not that that is a bad thing, it's just where my mind went.

I do like the spelling Nikolai, it's on my longer list of 'like's. lol Locke reminded me of Lost at first as well (especially since we have a Jack), but the more I think of it as my sons name the less it is 'Lost'. :) And thank you for not HATING Bodie. haha

  • I like Logan but it is so popular right now, that would be a turnoff for me.
I like Bodie, I think it's a good name without sounding made up or anything. And Ronan too.
Good luck though, boy names would be hard for me too.
  • I have a friend who named her son Nico last year.  That is his full name (not a nn).  He is the third Nico that we know (all different ages/generations).  I'm just saying that you could use it without it being a nn.

However, I think Linus might be my favorite on your list.  I think it is a darling name for a little boy and would grow with him just fine.

  • Ronan is my favorite on your list, but I like the story of your DS naming the baby Logan.  We are in a similar situation where my DD is set on a name, too.  We are seriously thinking about picking DD's favorite name.

  • I really like Ronan. It's different and I haven't heard it that much!

  • We are considering NIco too but it doesn't work very well with our last name. It would prob be my pick from your list and id say just go for it without the full name!
  • Thanks for all the input!  I keep going back and forth between which name I like best.  Right now I'm liking Ronan and Logan the best.  But like pp said, the popularity of Logan is a bit of a turnoff.  It's the only part of Jackson's name that I'm not fond of even though it's perfect for him.

  • I really like your names! They are familiar but not over done, well except for Logan- it's a great name but I know of so many Logan's under 5! But if you aren't concerned with popularity (which you probably aren't considering you have a Jackson which is also a great name but very popular) then it is really cute that your DS insists on it!

My favorites are Locke and Linus, but Ronan and Boden are great too. I love Nico as well but I don't like the full name Nicolas.

  • I feel like Logan is so over used for the last 5 years. I can't get down with it. I do love Bodie though. Great name

  • Good picks. I like the sound of Nicolai and Ronan was actually one of the names my bf and I were considering for our little dude. When you know you know and it may take to seeing his face for it to click :)
  • I really like Ronan! It was on my list originally along with Rowan.
