Baby name votes?

edited September 2013 in March 2014 Moms
So, my husband and I have been trying to nail down our name choices. For a boy he is pretty set on Oakley Carter. And I know I know....Oakley probably sounds crazy and isn't popular at all......my husband is a huge fan of the Oakley name brand. He owns like 20 pairs of their glasses. And somehow I just came up with the name and he loves it and I love that I get Carter (my favorite boy's name) so we're both happy with it.

But for a girl we can't decide? I definitely want Skye incorporated in the name because that's my absolute favorite girl's name. Opinions?

  • I vote for the first one, though I'm not a fan of the spelling....I'd vote either Kaylee or Kali.

My DH is pretty obsessed with Oakleys too :) Have you thought about the name Skyler? I love that name for a girl! I also really like Kayleigh too.
I have thought about Skyler.  And love it too.  But when I told my best friend (right when I got pregnant) that I was going to incorporate Skye into my daughter's name, she told me, "I don't want to steal your thunder or anything, but I'm just letting you know ahead of time that my son will definitely have the name Skyler either as a first name or a middle name."  Which doesn't bother me at all.....I just know that I can't name my daughter that now. :)

  • Im not a big fan of skylee. It sounds made up. Kayleigh is nice.
  • Out of those two I voted for Kayleigh (I don't love the spelling).

I like the name Skye about a million times better than "Skylee", if you love the name Skye why not use it??

  • Whatever you do, do not take these names to the baby names board!!!

With that said, your names are NMS, but Kayleigh is ok, but the spelling I don't care for.

  • I like all if it but skylee. I knew a Skyla growing up.

I had a skylynn in my high school. Might would have to look up spelling cuz I can't remember for sure but It was pronounced like that.

Edit: and yes if you bring names that are unique or spelled a unique way the baby name board will attack you! One time they said I must think I am a god or something to change the spelling of a name the way I did... How dare I do such a thing!

    Be careful
  • I think just Skye would be better. Kayleigh (with sll its spellings) is so overdone and a name that I don't think ages very well--too cutesy. Kayla, maybe? Skylee is bad IMO. I like Kayla Skye.

  • I voted for Kayleigh, but I'm more concerned about naming a baby boy after a brand.

  • Kayleigh, no matter how it's spelled is a dated name, I know way to many who are our age, so I voted for skylee, but I wanted to ask if you know that Oakley is actually getting pretty popular, I personally love it and here it is a girl name, I don't know a single boy named Oakley, anyways you can still name your boy that, but I just thought maybe you could use that option for both, just saying! Good Luck with names!
  • If you love the names, it shouldn't matter what we think! Give your baby a name that is special to you and your husband. Having a name that is a little unique or spelled differently isn't a bad thing! My sister's middle name is Leigh and she gets compliments on it all the time. I think both names are beautiful. Follow your own heart! This is such a special time, enjoy naming your baby!
  • I like kaylee with a normal spelling. Sky lee is cute for a little girl but it doesn't pass the resume test...ie not going to look professional if your lo joins corporate America and that name is on top of her resume.
  • Please please please don't name your daughter Skylee. I know someone with a daughter named Mylee, which is cute when you're four. Not so much when you're an adult.
