We *tried* to tell DHs mom and step-dad about this pregnancy tonight. Put DS in a Big Brother shirt and everything. Apparently at one point they asked Dylan where he got his shirt (keep in mind he doesn't talk). I was in the kitchen making cookies and wrapping presents for DSs bday (turns two tomorrow). Why DH didn't chime in and answer is beyond me.

Eventually I stuck a peice of paper on DSs back saying "expected in May". Still nothing. I even held him up so Nana could read the sign. Just a little smile from her.

I gave up and put him in his jammies. I didn't expect them to be giddy, both bc they know about our last loss and bc this is grandkid 20-something for them...but still. Just ask when the edd is and maybe how I'm feeling.

What bugs me the most is I've waited an effing year to use that shirt. I've cried holding that shirt thinking I may never get this chance.

I think tomorrow I will just blurt it out to my parents. Already expecting their lack of enthusiasm...with DS they pretty much responded "oh, that's nice". At least the last set of grandparents will be excited (DHs dad and step-mom).

I'm sorry your news wasn't greeted with the enthusiasm it should've. I'm really excited you're due in MAY:) Are you going to plan anything fun for your DH's Dad and Step-mom?

We will be telling them by phone, apparently. I thought we would wait and tell them in person after the NT when we visit, but I guess DH wants them told when the other grandparents find out (telling them in personthis weekend). So, pphone call it is! I guess I could email a pic of DS in his shirt, but that's about all I could pull off on this short notice.

I'm super excited about all the May ladies here as well.

We are staying at his ex-wife's (DHs mom). They have Skype, but it would be a little awkward if the ex was home. They are cordial to one another, because of the kids and grandkids they share, but it was kind of a messy divorce.

We are only telling now bc this is the only shot we will have to tell grandparents in person for any of our pgs. Hoping this one sticks and is our last and we are military so we don't live nearby. My other three pgs were all clear across the country. I'm nervous as hell telling now. We told at this point with the last pg and ended up with a mmc.

Our parents were both thrilled with our first pregnancy, which ended in a mmc. When we told them about this one, we pretty much just got "oh, that's nice" from my mom and "are you sure this time?" from my FIL.

On the other hand, my boss, who was fairly reserved the first time, was absolutely over the moon when I told him I was pregnant again, and he gets really excited about all of our updates.

Is there any chance that his parents just did get it? Didn't put two and two together to figure out that you were announcing another pregnancy?

I am sorry they reacted so badly with no enthusiasm. I don't understand how families would not be excited for another baby, they should always be hopeful if the parents can manage even that after dealing with their miscarriages..

Have fun telling your DH's dad and stepmom and remember that we are all happy for you!!

I dont understand how parents don't have more enthusiastic reactions sometimes... I'm sorry you had a crummy response. I hope your parents are more excited when you tell them.
