Umbrella stroller

Anyone buy an umbrella stroller yet?  I need a decent umbrella stroller for little man since he's so big and graduating to the convertible car seat, but the cheapie ones will not cut it.  I was looking at the Chicco Echo at Target, but the weight limit is 40 pounds.  I was hoping for a higher limit than that, but I don't want to shell out for a Maclaren for my 3rd and most likely last kid.

Re: Umbrella stroller

  • I've checked Craigslist.  There was an old ad, and that was it.  No Maclaren's to be had around here.

  • When is it appropriate to start using an umbrella stroller?

  • Out of curiosity, and because I can be of no other help, why won't the cheapo ones cut it?

  • We got the chicco liteway stroller at our shower. I have yet to use it but it has many good reviews. However the weight limit is 40 lbs .

  • We got an Uppababy G-Luxe on Craigslist for $120. We wanted a travel stroller to take on a plane. It goes from 3 months to 50 lbs. The seat reclines, and it has a great sunshade, just like the Vista and Cruz, plus it is super lightweight,

They typically have a low weight limit, the handles are shorter, making you bend to push, and they don't push as easily.
OP, I'd check a local consignment store if possible. My area has several and that way you don't pay full price. Or any local garage sale pages near you on Facebook?
This. Unless you are 4'11 you will break your back pushing that doll stroller.

Uppababy g-lite or g-lux all the way!!! G-lite doesn't recline so baby needs to sit unsupported aka 6-7 months at least. Of my 6 strollers, g-lite is my absolute favorite!! I wish they made a double.

I love my G-Luxe. We started using ours when DS1 was 3 months old. He hated not being able to see out in the SnG. I got mine at BBB on sale for $190....so you can get a decent price on it new. We took ours to Florida through the airport-no problems like PP said it's great on a plane. After we got ours we started using it for everything-it is amazing. I wish they had it in a double though. :(

  • We haven't used our g-lite yet, but have him in the BOB for walks and our Joolz when we are out and about. I am looking forward to using the small one since I drive a small car (fiat 500).
  • I have the Bumbleride Flite and I love it. I looked at the Uppababy and Maclarin and this was in my opinion better. It has a huge canopy, full reclind back and adjustable footrest, good for tall parents and just felt sturdy. We use it all over and it's fantastic. I have the aquamarine color and everyone compliments us on it. It also comes with the unviseral car seat adapter
  • I have the $20 Cosco special that TRU will give away for free. Once the kid is actually big enough to sit in that kind of stroller, they are too heavy for the wheels to move, in my past experience. And the handhes are too short. They have no basket underneath, and they don't have a canopy.

  • A couple of weeks ago BRU ran a special if you spent $50 you got a free store-brand umbrella stroller.  I haven't used it yet, but it looks pretty strudy and lightweight.

  • I have the Chico lite way plus (the one that the infant seat snaps into) I LOVE it!! The only downfall is that it doesn't recline. But it is light and I can close with one foot which is great for me.
