18 month sleep regression help!

My lo has not slept a full night in 5 days. We are both so over tired. She is teething, but I have been giving pain reliever. She just cries off and on all night. We had such a hard time getting her to sttn in the first place I'm worried about starting bad habits. The only way to get her to stop crying is to snuggle her in the glider until she falls back asleep. Is this a horrible idea? In the past we have used a modified CIO but her crying is lasting so long I don't feel she can settle on her own. I would love any ideas.

Honestly, I bet you it is just the teeth. My DD wakes up whenever she is teething. We just comfort her as best we can during that time and she goes back to her normal sleeping through the night once the tooth is through.

Can you snuggle her just until she stops crying and then put her back in bed semi-awake? That is what we have been trying to do and it seems to be working.

Hope the teeth come through quickly.

Oh I so could've written this post. LO has been teething for the last week and will not go to sleep without us going in there multiple times and is getting up at least once or twice every night. Last night she was up from 3:30-5 and then up again at 6.  She used to be such a good sleeper.  I'm so hoping its just the teeth and things will go back to normal once they're done. I hear you about the bad habits thing but I don't want to leave her when I know something is wrong.  just sucks!

One tooth finally came in! She is still working on another but actually slept last night. Thanks for the advice.

Not everyone will agree with this but it worked like a charm for us.  My daughter, who was sttn from 4 months, starting throwing tantrums and wailing at bedtime and would wake up multiple times in the middle of the night.  It wasn't teeth, because we gave her teething tablets and/or Motrin. We ended up with her in our bed for at least a month.  At the end of 5 weeks of this hell, it was time for her 18 month check up at which time her pediatrician said she was not sick and encouraged us to try CIO again.  I was skeptical as she was much older than the last time we did it, but I was at my wits end.  First night, 1.5 hours.  IT KILLED ME.  I was crying the whole time.  She did wake up once and cried for maybe 30 minutes.  Second night, 30 minutes at bedtime.  Slept through the night!  Third night, wimpered for 10 seconds, STTN again.  That was 2.5 months ago.  We are SO much happier as a family and it really only took 3 nights.  Again, not everyone agrees with this method so to each his own.  Just wanted to give you an option. Good luck!
