UPDATED...Glucose test

I am still super nervous for this dang test tomorrow morning. I have to be at the hospital at 7:30 for my one hour glucose tolerance test. I am supposed to eat eggs and yogurt before hand. I only like scrambled eggs. I usually make them with milk and put butter in the pan, does that matter? As for yogurt, does the sugar in the yogurt make a difference. I eat regular yoplait french vanilla, the container says it has 26g of sugar, that seems like a lot for a small yogurt container. Should I make sausage links to go with the eggs? Once they start the test I can't eat or drink anything. My DH is coming with me so I don't have to sit alone for an hour but I am still a mess.

Update: I survived. I was super nervous and had a stomach ache before we even left the house. They gave me an orange drink, which was already cold. It wasn't that bad, just super sweet, tasted like something but I couldn't pinpoint it. They wanted a urine sample, that was disastrous, I can't seem to pee in a cup anymore, just all over my hand. DH and I were able to go out into the atrium of the hospital, and it was about 5 degrees cooler, so that helped.  I waited an hour and they took my blood. I am now eating an english muffin with jelly.  I have an appointment on Thursday for a 4d ultrasound and my 28 week appointment.

Re: UPDATED...Glucose test

  • Not sure a out what your office would suggest, but FWIW, I wasn't given any food instructions prior to my glucose test and it was mid-afternoon. They had ice cream at work that day, and I didn't turn it down. Still passed the test. Worst case you fail the 1 hour & have to go back for a 3, right?

I was told to eat protein and those were some examples she gave me.

You can always make eggs and sausage anyway, there is nothing wrong with eating two meals.

I know that is no help but I figured I'd chime in:)

  • No one wants GD- I have it for the 2nd time. No matter what happens you will be okay. I whine about it all the time but really there are far worse things. In all honesty it is getting me to eat healthier than I probably would have which is better for LO. Stinks for me but good for baby. And don't let them freak you out about a "big" baby- DS was 5lbs 14 oz. good luck either way!
